wow ascc channel, now i have another place to watch infomercials ALL DAY LONG. that was worth the wait. thanks for the heads-ups guys

So, back on the 2/11/2009 uplink report the following channel was added:
5253(24) - KBTZ [MPEG4 HD] added to Ciel-2 129W TP 05 Spotbeam 12 (NA)(Butte, MT-FOX)

On 6/24/2009 the channel was removed:
5253 - KBTZ (NA) removed from Ciel-2 129W TP 05 Spotbeam 12(Butte, MT-FOX)

KBTZ was sold from Equity Media to Max Media. Supposedly Fox is broadcasting OTA on channel 19-2 in 720p HD.

We have the other locals (ABC, CBS, NBC) in HD. Is there anything I can do to get E* to broadcast Fox in HD?

They have to cut a deal with Max Media. None of the 3 former Equity Fox stations now owned by Max Media are in HD on Dish. They are in SD on Dish though

Does anyone know anything about Quad Cities HD locals?

They originally said they would be up "this summer" (which was last summer), then they announced on a Tech Chat a date (which I think was in September), then later said it was delayed. Then on another Tech Chat they announced November 11, which came and went once again with nothing.

Does anyone know what the holdup is? When we might see something?

Yeah, they are in SD, but the PQ of the SD broadcast seems to be particularly bad.

Are they trying to cut a deal? Is there anything I can do? Nag both Max Media and E*?

This sounds like the process that every channel goes through before going live on Dish :p

This is my spotbeam:
SatelliteGuys.US - Subscription 129°W

It doesn't look like there is a Fox in HD broadcasting on this spotbeam at all. Am I reading that correctly? The only other spots that might work for me are SB6 and maybe SB13. SB13 only has SD Wyoming channels and SB6 only has 3 HD channels, 1 is not available, and no fox listed.

I spoke with Max Media and this was their reply:
Hi Linda,

Do you know the status of getting Fox in HD on DishNetwork?

-Ryan

Hi Ryan,

From my understanding, it is available to them now, but they may need additional receive equipment to be able to provide it to their subscribers.

However, FOX can now be found on KTMF digital channel 23.2, which is now broadcasting gorgeous high definition digital signals over the air.

Regards,

Linda

Does Linda just not know what she is talking about? It sounds like she is under the impression E* could broadcast it if they wanted to.

KWYB is apparently the Butte ABC and Fox affiliate and they're broadcasting on 18.2.

Having an HD feed on a subchannel is exceedingly rare. Wikipedia lists four such stations and none of them are in Montana.

I'm guessing that there are no Fox HD feeds to be had outside of KHMT in Billings (Nexstar) as Max owns all others and they're all on subchannels.

City|Call|Channel
Missoula|KTMF-DT|23.2
Kalispell|KTMF-LD|42.2
Butte|KWYB-DT|18.2
Bozeman|KWYB-LD|28.2
Great Falls|KFBB-DT|5.2
Helena|KHBB-LD|21.2

I'm thinking that got pushed back with some changes on 77 and shuffling going on of traffic to 72 since more transponders on 72 will be lit up. Or they could be waiting for E-14 to prevent people having to switch over to EA.

We have WGGB in Springfield Mass which has two 720p signals

55-1 is WGGB - ABC
55-2 is FOX-SPRINGFIELD

Dish does not carry Springfield locals.

I hope it is the E-14. I really don't want another Dish on my house...
