HD Cinema (104): The Man Who Bought Mustique **+ (2000, Doc)​

Summary: A deliciously entertaining look at Lord Glenconner, a Scottish lord who bought the tiny Caribbean island of Mustique in 1956 for a song and turned it into a playground for the rich and famous, including Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Tommy Hilfiger, and various British royalty such as Princess Margaret and Prince Andrew. But in the late 70's the "Jet-Set Monarch" ran out of money, lost control of his island, and was banished to nearby St. Lucia. Director Joseph Bullman and producer Vikram Jayanti (When We Were Kings) follow the indomitable Glenconner may be one man's argument for reviving the guillotine and another's swan song for "this blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

Plot Summary for
Live Nude Girls Unite! (2000)
Documentary look at the 1996-97 effort of the dancers and support staff at a San Francisco peep show, The Lusty Lady, to unionize. Angered by arbitrary and race-based wage policies, customers' surreptitious video cameras, and no paid sick days or holidays, the dancers get help from the Service Employees International local and enter protracted bargaining with the union-busting law firm that management hires. We see the women work, sort out their demands, and go through the difficulties of bargaining. The narrator is Julia Query, a dancer and stand-up comedian who is reluctant to tell her mother, a physician who works with prostitutes, that she strips.

Plot: When a trio of ex-convicts led by Mattie Appleyard is released from prison, they hope to open a general store using money Mattie has saved during his 40-year sentence. This attempt is met with great resistance from a corrupt prison official and the banker who issued Mattie the check.
