New pc build.

I'm a bit leery of Nvidia high end GPU's. I keep updated on Nortwest Repair, Northridge Fix, and a few others on YouTube. All the same. Fried power connectors. Tendency to crack where the main board connector latch is on them.
A bit scary. Companies ditching warranties and just reflowing the core when they do honor them. Power connector repair denied due to claims of incorrect PSU plug connection.
But man! Talk about keeping up with the Joneses! You really get immersed in games.
As for "dirt cheap". After seeing a few clips showing too good to believe Nvidia 40XX and 50XX GPU's with missing cores and ram. Or fake ram swapped out. Scary.
At the least go for a Square Trade plan.
I'm a longtime Asus fan for pc builds. But as of late they scare me. Laptops, GPU's and mainboard failures.
Not being negative. Just aware. Very aware!
all i need now is for sony to put nvidia sync in there oleds and id'e be in my glory :biggrin

Not sure but there's next to no speed loss with a PCI M.2 card adapter
Even with 2 slots. Asus makes it seem like both drives would need to be in a raid config. Unless the card only takes up on pcie lane. The card is gen 5 the drive slots on the board itself are gen 4

But I use mine for high end gaming and video rendering...
Do either of these tasks read or write that much data to the storage drives? I suppose if you're writing raw, uncompressed video, rendering might create a flood but I wonder if it could be coming so fast as to put pressure on a Gen4 (or maybe even Gen3) SSD.

On mine, I have two on the board, both with drives in them (My Windows and Arch installs) and a third on PCIE and they aren't in a RAID setup

Lol I couldn't hang with that lol. I feel ancient running a gen 4 drive  :D:biggrin. But I use mine for high end gaming and video rendering...
Oh I know. Motherboard is a must in this upgrade, but not one of the first things. Maybe the last. Motrherboard and new processor after I do the GPU

yes they do when rendering files i do uncompressed raw video it's a much faster process than with a gen 4 drive since the bandwith is double. and when in gaming going from world to world or server to server is insanely fast i'm talking about a blink of an eye. most of all i wanted the high performance read writes!!! the drive is a beast!!! do i recomend everyone run out and buy one NO most can do with a gen 3 or 4 drive. i am also a power user to so the drive helps in that aspect as well...

while i agree!!! but it also depends on what you use your pc for video rendering hard core gaming certain power hungry programs!!! i used my 990 pro in my pc until i could get the 9100 pro i could never go back to a 990 pro the speeds are like night and day. and i'm a power user as well!!! i just have to do a ram upgrade since i got what i could get my hands on to get this thing up and running... and it's a more smooth and fluid experience since the drive is so fast..

I don't have huge needs for max speed but I have bigger better faster more disease. I just don't have the wallet to keep up with it
