"$10 billion takes fiber to every school, hospital in the US"

Verizon is having a hard time getting folks to sign up for their broadband (& other services) package. Even when it saves them money.

So I've become skeptical that the demand, and therefore the need, is all that high. Right now, I'd rather see that money spent on something like expanding the DC Metro (subway) system.
 
I think the main problem is that people want high speed interenet, but do not want to pay more for it. They see an arrangement of packages lets say from $30-$90. They will probably pick close to $30 since they do not think they wait that much longer for downloads.

People do not really understand the whole download speed concept. They see the words high speed and most glaze over at the numbers.... The $30 option said "high speed", so it must be good enough.
