One of my old customers wants to remove his 10 ft dish if anyone is near Regina, Sask, Canada it can be yours for the taking it's a Star Trac I believe. I have not seen it for years but he says mover still works von wiese not sure what receiver but it is not a 4dtv think it is an older GI. I do have a dish lifter you can borrow to help remove dish as it is above his garage.

Here is the lifter a welder made it for me years ago was a lot easier to lift back then but would fit multiple pole sizes and was able to lift dish mostly by myself with someone to steady it and help me guide it on pole same thing in reverse when removing it I could let go of it and it would hang by cable had to watch out on windy days so it did not get swinging in the wind. Not sure how many I put up with it but it was invaluable back then. I could have gotten it made with aluminum but back then I was cheap and he wanted 100.00 more for aluminum.

That is totally awesome! I wish I would have seen this a week ago. I would have built one because I'm placing a 10' pinnacle on a 15' pole today, obviously the hard way:(

That Alpha 10 is an excellent dish. It has a large offset 36 inch ring which very few other dishes have. If I were closer I would grab it in a heartbeat.

What kind of pizza dish is that he has up there by the C-Band? It kind of looks like a DirecTV AT-9

I think that's a hacker dish for BEV + DishNet.
It's probably useless now, so you might as well get it while you are there.
Though, it's probably too small for -good- FTA, other than on strong transponders...
And you'd need either the rectangular-based linear LNBFs, or make up a bracket for a traditional LNBF. ;)
At least the mount has -skew- built in.. maybe that part would be useful behind a bigger dish..?

Pizza Dish

Here's a similar dish made from a DTV pan and a Dish 500 arm. Looked at BEV and DISH. 61.5, 72.7, 82, and 91. Everything ITC vanished and so did the dish:)

I've had some requests for more info on my dish lifter had it made not my design years ago to assist me in installing and removing cband dishes I had the choice between steel or aluminum should have gotten aluminum as it is fairly heavy you bolt it around poll just below where the dish is going to come to a rest once tightened it will not slide up or down pole hook to back of dish mount as high as possible and so that mount pipe is straight up and down so it slips over pole and with someone on ground to assist with lift start cranking you can stop cranking and let it hang there anytime you want with person on ground pulling out on bottom of dish is easy to lift straight up pole and drop it over pole ground person moves left or right to align with your directions then lower. Below are some more pics for anyone who wants to build one.

Nice pics!
if i can figure out where to grab a cable pully with crank. i may give this a shot.

I'm inspired to build one of these for myself too. I already had a hand winch on hand for years - bought it at Harbor Junk Tools for $20. The pulley for the other end you could likely find on a v-belt driven alternator.
They're still selling the same model hand winch for $20:

i am going to give this a shot. i need to get that darn dish down. I already poured the mud and setup a lamp post style mount yesterday for it. fantastic info in this thread.

i was gonna attempt that dish this weekend doug but i didnt have yours or your buddies contact info. now the weekend is half over.

crackt out,.

I just got a new computer was setting it up Friday night did not see your post or get your pm until sat afternoon i sent you my phone numbers Sat afternoon when i finally got email accounts set up and got your messsage

Great lifter TVRO. Nice pics. Reminds me of the device I made for putting up towers and antennas. Worked real good for my 80 footer. (2M beam up there)

RT.

You are correct, I can confirm that it's an Ariza hacker dish. That brand was very popular back when hacking was in full force but the company behind the brand was since forced out of business after being sued for satellite piracy. I believe that particular model is only 24 inches elliptical so it would not be worth the effort to try and convert it for FTA use.
