Hi all I picked up a 10' mesh dish (unknown brand) and the deal was 50$ for the dish. The previous owner was never able to find the mount for it because it was stored for years. So he gave me my money back and let me keep the mesh sections (4 total) I could probably get the feedhorn supports if I wanted but no mount. Has anyone ever improvised with this before? For now the mesh pieces will sit next to my shed. The pieces are a darker color but I don't know what the brand is. Looks similar to SAMI or Unimesh maybe.

If it's Unimesh, it'll have a label saying so on the back of at least one of the sections. Yes, it is possible to adapt a polar mount from another dish. Or, even to make a fixed mount using angle-iron if you are a little handy.

Its hard to say without seeing it but You may be able to use a mount from a smaller dish. Many of those mesh dishes used a 24" diameter polar mount mount for ten foot and smaller. MY unimesh has the 24" mount with four small channels welded to the ring. The ribs of the dish (where the sections bolt together) fit in the channels and are bolted through.

I would consider some type of fixed mount for it. I will have to take some measurements later. Just seems like a waste to get rid of it. I do have a welder but no plans for a mount. I didn't see any labels anywhere. The dish finish is weather but the mesh is in good condition.

That looks like a good solution. As long as it isn't too expensive I will consider that. Thanks Fat Air. You have answered many of my C-band questions since I have been here. I will try to figure out what dish I have and I will keep everyone posted if I find anything.

Dish identification

I took some pictures of the sections so hopefully someone can identify it by comparing it to their's. I compared it to my SAMI and Unimesh and it doesn't look related. Note the welded rectangles over the end of the mesh in one picture.

Would it be worth picking up another cheap/free dish just for the mount?
Something with hail dings or blown out panels...
?...and a restorable motor. :up
That's certainly the path I would pursue. :)

Whenever I go home, I wanna cry. My folks, in Northern New Brunswick, have an dismantled 10ft mesh behind the garage. I keep telling them the benefits of FTA to no avail.
The pole and its base alone must weigh no less than 300 lbs.
3 weeks ago, I saw the LNB support and polar mount leaning against the stucture.

Point is, if your ever in the area, its yours if you want to those parts.

Cheers, K

That looks like a "Perfect 10" dish. I have one just like it that I am taking down. Too bad you're not near Atlanta I would give you the mount you need - free.

And if you were in the NorthWest I would set you up with a mount.

I am still looking for a mount for this dish. I am picking up the feedhorn supports next week. I would like to set this one up at another property.

Did you see if one shipped from Magic Static was worthwhile?? Broken down into two UPS packages may be cheaper than one box. Don't think the mount would have to be exact. Should be able to graft it to just about any polar mount that's 'heavy' enough. Seems I remember a member grafting one (different brand) to a mount not too long ago.

I may have a mount for that dish, I'll try to post some pictures of it. It's in rough shape but could be brought back. The dish it was with flew off the back of a scrapper's truck and smashed and they never came back to pick it up, but the mount seems still ok. I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow or the next day, if it's what you need, you can have it.

Mount pictures

Rrob311, here's the pictures.
