Ok before the satellite guy gets here again, and I have to yell at him do I absolutely have to have the 1000 series dishes? Or can I go back to the 500 series? The rain fade from the 1000 series is killing me. Everytime it even sprinkles 129 goes out and we used to have a wing dish in another spot that prevented this.

1000.2/4 dishes are no worse than the 500 dish for rain fade, your dish is probably not peaked well or there are tree branches in the path. Tell your installer about your signal losses and he/she should correct the problem.

That's exactly the problem that's why I had a wing dish there are trees that blow in front of 129 during storms with this dish that didn't when when we had a wing dish that was located on the other side of the house. The old system there had to practically be a hurricane to lose reception and I live in Illinois so thats not possible so really it never lost reception except during tornados when high winds would blow it out of alignment.

Nope that one can't hit 110 and 119 because trees block them. Hey can I take off the 129 input an hook the old 129 back up? I really am not a satellite installer, that's what I pay dish for. So I just go by what they say unless it differs from my opinion like how to install three hoppers they wanted to put up another satellite dish and I had to provide the diagram of how to install it without doing so. You guys are the ones that helped with that or I would have a huge mess of crap that I wouldn't have needed.

IF you still have the side sat for 129 installed ,then just wait till he installs the 1000.2 sat dish. Then run a coax to your new dish and hook it to the lnb port . Then cover the lnb for 129 on your 1000.2 sat dish with foil to block all reception. Then go and run a check switch and it will show 110/119/x/129. The side sat dish will be the signal you will use for 129 from then on. Mind you it will take a while for the check switch to run ,since it will have to figure out why it can't see 129 off your triple lnb. But it will work and you're problem would be solved. I've done it before for the 61.5 sat and my eastern arc dish. I got better reception using the bigger dish for 61.5 ,then the eastern arc dish.

Now THIS is the kind of creative S that I love to learn about!

Ok so the guy has been here. He said there is absolutely nothing wrong with my system, dish or anything. Line of sight perfect. He changed the head for the heck of it just to appease me but there is nothing wrong at all everything is peaked perfectly. He said the foil thing would work and maybe the wing dish might be a little more powerful but he wasn't going to go thru the mess of hooking it back up. So my question is if I still have rain fade after the head is changed and I get my butt up there on a ladder and hook the old 129 up can I just remove the 129 that goes to the switch port and and stick it there why bother sticking foil over the head if I just take the cable out of the port on the dpp 44 that 129 goes in from the 1000.2 and then do a check switch shouldn't it just find the 129 wing? Oh and one other question can a 311 receiver see 129 so I can just take a small tv and that receiver up on the roof to peak it thats a 30 foot climb and a flat roof I would rather not keep climbing up and down over and over again.

I don't know how the dpp 44 switch works in your situation. I was speaking about how to do the foil on the built in lnb of the dish 1000.4 sat dish. I don't use any external switches other than the dual node for two hoppers.

If I wanted to use my dish 500 pro dual LNBF with my duo node and two Hopper no Joey system is there any reason it would not work?
Iknow would not get 129 and I might only get 2 tuners, but there I times that would make me happier.

Yes, that will work. Just take the lead from 129 off the d44 switch and connect the cable coming from your existing dish from the other side of the house onto the same port of the d44 switch. If you access the check switch summary from one of your receivers (menu, 6, 1, 1, test) you will see which port on the d44 switch is being utilized by 129w. That will save the hassle of trying to trace it down from the dish.

And yes,a 311 rcvr will read 129w. Or just have someone with a phone stay in the house by the TV/rcvr while you have them on the line with your phone on speaker on the roof. Let them tell you when its peaked out. It sounds kind of dangerous trying to haul a rcvr, TV, and power up that high on your roof.

An Eastern Arc upgrade will not work for you since you still have the old MPEG-2 311 rcvr on your acct. It won't work on the Eastern Arc dish with the higher elevation.

I'm assuming you mean a DishPro Plus Twin LNB. (DPP Twin) Its the LNB with the two integrated LNB/eyes. It'll have DishPro Plus on the back. Two lines from your existing DPP LNB, via a duo node will not work for two Hoppers. You'll need three lines from a 1000.2 or 1000.4 LNB for two Hoppers. Purchase a Dish 1000.2 or 1000.4 and LNB . You'll get all three lines from either of those.

You know I am glad I am so naggy about my dish because the new LNB assembly that the guy said I didn't need but he would put on anyway just to appease me fixed my rain fade. There is like half a hurricane outside right now and its still working.

Yes you are describing my Dish 500 more accurately than I can. Why will the 500 not work? I can accept it not providing full functionality, but I can not understand why it would provide no functionality.
I do also have a dish 1000.2 and it works fine, except tonight when it rained the signal want to zero on the on screen signal meter on all three tuners and all three satellites. When the rain let up the signal came back.

question about "moving"
