My old TV was 1080i only so I didn't have a choice. I just replaced it with a 1080p and am not sure if I should leave the setup as 1080i or 720p on my HD-A3. Any suggestions on which works best?

I think I found the answer on p20 of the manual:

You may find that setting the output resolution of the player to match as closely as possible the native resolution of your display provides the best picture performance (e.g., 720p for 720p and 1080i for 1080i or 1080p).

I thought all Gen 3 players (the HD-A3 is a gen 3) could output 1080p at 60 or 24 hz.

Nope. The max output of the A3 is 1080i/60. Like jayn_j said, that's one of the differences between the a3 and a30.

Cebbigh,

set it for 1080i. Your TV should be able to deinterlace it correctly and it will look spectacular.

Most likely if you have a 1080p tv that was built in the last year and a half its not going to make a difference. The 1080i signal has the same data as the 1080p signal, the TV just has to deinterlace the signal.
