1080P Movie Poll

My TV only does 1080i, 480p and 480i, no HDMI. Doesn't matter, won't order a time-limited VOD program anyway.

I have a 622 with HDMI connected directly to a Samsung LN-T5265F. 612 and IAL on 501 showed up about the middle of August and 613 and 1080BCP on 501 showed up about a week ago. I watched them both. PQ was excellent.
While the movies were playing, I checked the TV input and verified it was playing 1080p/24. Nothing new shows up at the Dish output menu selections which still read 1080i. The only issue I noticed on both movies was the sound track cutting out during the closing credits on both movies. I changed from RF Mode to Line Mode in the Dolby Digital menu and it went away.

I am a happy camper. Thank you Dish.

My Sony A3000 tv is 1080p and can do 24/30/60/120 fps, does 1080p/24 perfectly w/ a blu-ray player, but can't pass the 722's test.

Both displays have been confirmed to except 1080P 24, neither will pass the test.

Have a 622, received 1080P movie on channel 501, and my tv passed the 1080P video test. BUT - No audio and picture in the upper left corner SO passing the test is no big thing!

Just ordered 10,000 BC last night. Only $2.99 (plus $1 charge) and I think it was well worth it, but when they jack the price back up to $7 or more I'll likely pass.

However, the movie looked really great, a good choice for 1080p. The best looking movie I ever seen on my HDTV since I still have never owned, rented, or seen a bluray. Normally I either just watch movies via normal dish programming or use normal dvd's in my 1080p upscaler.

So, since I never have seen a bluray, I can't compare this 1080p VOD movie to bluray. However, I think movies on many of dish's hd movie channels look like great HD quality, and I know 1080p won't give a huge improvement. However, overall, the movie did look a tad better than normal 1080i. I think just the fact that I can notice a tiny difference is actually a compliment to the 1080p VOD. Maybe not quite bluray quality? Or maybe it is? Either way, the difference would have to be very minimal.

Have 722 and though several VOD's have always shown up, none have ever offered 1080P so have not been able to test my 1080P Samsung. Have netflix so will probably never use anyway.

I would like to find out who has received the 1080P movie on channel 501, and whether the receiver and tv passed the 1080P video test.

For your Poll to have any validity you would need to compare how a particular model HDTV works with the specified DVRs. As you have it right now, the results are not reliable because there is no controlled environment, so the Poll is flawed.

1080p Movies on VOD 501

I watched "I am Legend" in 1080p and for days there were no 1080p offerings at all, not even "I am Legend" on my guide, but after checking this am I discovered that "10,000 B.C." is now offered.

I am in the Sony camp, with a KDF-50E3000. It accepts 1080P signals at both 24fps and 60fps, but it doesn't pass the Dish signal test.

10000 BC finally showed up; only took about 3 weeks Regardless I did the test, and my Samsung LN46A950 did pass and it reports 1080P/24 I'd rent it tonight to check it out, but all the Fall shows start tonight.
