1980's glory of analog cband satellite

Even though we are all comparing today's quality to yesteryear it was the best of times, when it wasn't being the worst of times :biggrin
I think what some participants forget is that back then, if you didn't have your dish precisely aimed (for example, if you had an installer that didn't quite know how to make a moveable dish track the arc precisely) you'd get "sparklies" in the video. Also those systems could be very expensive if purchased new. I have heard how deflated some people get when they learn that the only valuable part of their old C-band system is the dish, and that all that equipment inside the house (for which they paid nearly half the price of a new car in some cases) is essentially useless, since it only picks up analog signals which are mostly non-existent now (maybe completely, I haven't really kept up with whether there is still any analog left at all).
