1) All of those are in the clear, Free to Air, unscrambled, or however you want to label them! If you have the right equipment, and they are open and legal.
2) Receiving them, on the other hand, is another subject. Those in the pink are C-Band only (Big dish). Of those, only those listed as "DVB" will be easily received, those listed as Digichipher need a special receiver that isn't easily availible. This is all provided you are in the footprint of the signal.
Those in the green are Ku-Band (30" or so dish), and even then you will need to be in the footprint. Here in Minnesota, I am able to get the two Azteca stations and Telefourmula on a 30" dish.
Thanks it does make sence! all i wanted to know is if it was legal and if they were free. thank you! now my question is what is the best deal and the right equipment there is to get them on one receiver? It looks like all the channels i want are on SATMEX 5
What channels are you trying to get? On www.lyngsat.com/america.html, you can see what's on Satmex 5 http://www.lyngsat.com/sm5.html. The four-digit TP (transponder) frequencies are C-band (need at least a 5 foot dish, preferably larger). The five-digit frequencies are Ku, which is what we mainly deal with here in this forum. For these, you need at least a 30" dish (the larger the better), a Ku LNB (standard or universal), and a free-to-air receiver such as the Pansat, Fortec, Coolsat, or Viewsat. There are others as well.
