So after Tebow and the Broncos beat the Jets tonight will the haters stop? Or will they make some excuse about how the Jets had to travel a long way, how its a short week, how the time zone is different, how LT is not playing etc etc...
Well if you had to pick between Mark Sanchez leading your team or Tim Tebow who would you pick?
LOL funny you should say that...and please keep in perspective I am NOT the biggest Mark Sanchez fan, and am not here to defend him. AND I am rooting for Tebow to succeed. There is something I just like about the guy.
It is interesting, however, that Sanchez in two years in the league has QB'd his team to four road playoff victories, including wins AT New England and Indianapolis, in the height of all their Brady/Peyton glory.
Sanchez played well in all those games...not fantastic but well, on the game's biggest stages...but time and time again he made big plays and big passes when it counted.
Tebow has won some games against the league's lesser-lights...and I'm going to be very generous when I say he's played OK.
Yet the general perception is that the Jets won those playoff games DESPITE Sanchez, and the Broncos beat those poor teams BECAUSE Tebow willed them to victory. I don't get that.
If Tebow had QB'd the Jets to all those playoff victories, regardless of anything his stats would have said, people would be falling all over themselves calling him the biggest winner since (fill in the blank). Yet Sanchez is villified...even by me.
Just sayin'...
Sandra
Certainly Sanchez has had a larger resume to judge by whereas Tebow is very limited. But I think Sanchezs reputation for turnovers has merit.

Where as while not Pretty in the last 4 games Tebow has had just 1 Turnover. When the jets do win, it maybe because of his good play, despite his mistakes.
Also people talk about Tebow being 1 dimensional player and not a passing threat, etc.. Id just like to add he has over 600 yards passing in 4 games with 7 TD passes and only 1 INT...
Well, if you're going to criticize Sanchez for turnovers and say Tebow hasn't had as many...you also have to refer to your own point that Sanchez has a (MUCH) larger resume to judge. Tebow threw eight passes one of the few games that IS on his resume.
You also forgot to mention that in very limited opportunites, Tebow threw THREE interceptions last year.
Again, I go back to the game's biggest stage...Sanchez has thrown three interceptions in six playoff games...ALL ON THE ROAD. Along with nine touchdown passes. That's not many mistakes in the games that matter most.
As I said, it's about perception...your perception is that Sanchez makes mistakes...even though in games that matter most, he has not.
Again...if Tebow had QB'd the Jets to those playoff victories, everyone would be genuflecting at him, not bringing up mistakes that didn't even happen.
Sandra
150 yards a game isn't anything to brag about. The limited INT's are more of product of him not being allowed to throw more. Kinda difficult to throw a pick when you only completed 2 passes (in his most recent game).
Well I was referring to just the last 4 games in which Sanchez has 4 INT with 7 TD passes. The same number of TD pass's Tebow has, with 3/4 the turn overs.
Not to mention Tebows rushing stats, and how that plays a role in his teams chances to win (his ability to FORCE plays to happen when the designed play fails)
I mean all and all, and I maybe a bit biased but if I had to bet my team on a QB, and it was between Tebow and Sanchez I certainly would go with Tebow. (as if that was not going to be the obvious answer) I mean we can compare these two all the way back to college as they were playing at the same time, and Sanchez just had nothing compared to Tebow. The biggest Advantage Sanchez has had over Tebow is his team desperately needed a QB so he got to start right away, where as Tebow has only had 4 games starting to get into any kind of rhythm.
.
Yes 150 yards a game, with 7 TDs.
Thats without any WRs of note. Its not like he has Randy moss to throw to..
The low INT is a product of him showing he knows where NOT to throw the ball. The KC game is a good example. Look at all 8 of his passes (should be easy to do) aside from one pass that was just thrown to no where, the rest were to his receiver, and away from the defender. The receiver should of made the play on the ball but didn't. Tebow can not help the fact Denver's receivers are in the bottom of the league. With only 1 of them showing any signs of improving (Decker)
I mean when your three running backs are also in the top 10 of your teams receivers thats not saying much about the receiving core.
Tebow can not help the fact Denver's receivers are in the bottom of the league. With only 1 of them showing any signs of improving (Decker)
See, you bring up perfect examples of how you can make statistics lie...or say anything you want.
You say you only want to compare the last four games...well, you do that if you like, because obviously that's what fits your argument.
Or you decide that you want to compare college, because as we all know Tebow was one of the great college QB's of all time. What Tebow did in college may have gotten him to the NFL...but it means ZERO now that he's in the NFL.
But on the NFL stage, taking EVERYTHING into account, (not just what you choose to take into account), Tebow has a long way to go before he can match what Sanchez has accomplished already in his short time in the league.
Can Tebow do it? Possibly. Will Tebow have a 9-3 TD-INT ratio in his first six playoff starts? Tebow's college stats mean nothing there, and as fat-face Rex says...we gonna find out.
Then again, the real question may be...will Tebow even be able START six playoff games in his entire career? We gonna find that out too.
Sandra
Slow down Junior. Tebow's sample size is WAYYYY to small to be rushing to conclusions and comparing him to other more established NFL QB's.
Its not what fits my argument its the only thing I can go by as Tebow has only started the last 4 games.. Thats the only reason I chose those games to compare the only games Tebow has started this year with the games in the same period by Sanchez. I am sure its possible to find 4 games Sanchez has done that blow Tebows 4 games out of the water.
Stop dissing the wide receivers. Come back when you know about the Broncos and not just Tebow. (He should get the throws to the WR's so they can catch them!)
Where is your analysis that puts them at the bottom of the league, other than your blind devotion to Tebow?
You watched the KC game right? Decker had at LEAST 3 pass's that a good WR would of caught. 1 of which would of been a TD, the other could of been if he got the yards after catch. When a ball hits both hands not finger tips, not that you had to dive for etc, but you are standing straight up the ball hits both hands dangit you need to catch that ball, specially when you are in good coverage and the ball is put in a place the Defense cant get, but you SHOULD.
Is Decker going to be a good WR? He certainly has been improving and showing signs of getting better, but he is no super star yet. On teams like the Patriots or other teams with good WR's he would not be a starter.
Eddie Royal is fast as lightning, and not sure why he does not seem to get the shots, they seem to keep him on Special teams mainly.
Tebow needs help from his receivers, in the option his receivers have to get into position as fast as possible, each and every play even though they know the odds are low to get the ball, they have to run every route as if they are getting the ball, and if the option is there they will get it.
