2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

The Sammy QLED's of 2018 look amazing also. Blacks are right there with Oled's have brighter HRD, no burn-in issues, it really was a toss-up but ended up going with the LG.

I have last years (2017) in a 65” and this (2018) 77”.
There is a difference between the two but not leaps and bounds. The software is more fluid and a tad brighter picture on the 18 model. I imagine you can expect small incremental differences in this years model. From what I understand, unless you are a gamer the differences will be small. I’d jump on the sub 5k if you want/need it now. I’d expect prices will drop lower when new models start shipping.

Well, I pulled the trigger on the LG 77" C8. Got an accepted offer of $4,499 on Greentoe. Brand new from an authorized dealer (so full warranty). Now I just have to wait for it to arrive!

That’s $800 less than what I paid and I still consider mine a bargain.

After a few days with the 77" and I'm very impressed. Simply beautiful picture. Watched a lot of basketball and the motion is fantastic. Not sure why some people have issues. Watched a movie (First Man) on Saturday night in the dark and on the space shots it was impossible to see where the screen ended in ISF Dark. Switched to ISF Bright and you can see it, but still beautiful. Very impressed so far.

Yup, OLED TVs are the real deal, you cannot replicate with an LED tv. Sure their brightness might not be great, but for the average consumer it’s totally fine.

Be sure to calibrate the tv, that’s when you get blown away how good the picture can be on an OLED.

10 years from now, I’ll probably still be watching my Sony 900 UHD LCD TV. When I was shopping, I decided any OLED I bought simply wouldn’t last that long.

I’ve been a bit proponent of OLED. But it hasn’t yet lived up to its potential.
