211k EHD maximum size

Just keep in mind that is only a question of when a HD is going to fail. If the drive is in a media center and it gets warm it probably will be sooner. The bigger the drive the more you stand to lose. Unfortunately there isn't any way to back up EHDs.

I have had two 1 TB EHDs fail on my VIP 211K in thirty months while the 500GB drive on my VIP 211 is still running fine.

If you have shows that you want to archive invest in several smaller drives and rotate through your drives.
 
I have personally backed up several regular EHDs using Linux, since all the partitions are plain vanilla ext3. Not sure what format the 211 uses...
