This week I was able to convince three more people to go FTA. I recommended a 36" WSI dish currently being sold on HyperMegaSat's website for $99 with free shipping which was the best deal I could find for a quality dish.

Questions:
1) Any other deals on a quality 36" dish?
2) Does anyone know of any 4' (120cm) dishes that can be motorized at a good price. I saw one on Galaxy Marketing's website, but at $149 plus shipping it was too expensive for the three people who are interested. If the dish cost less than $150 including shipping I probably could talk them into it. With a 4' they could at least experiement with high power C band.

a 4 foot dish is considered oversized so the shipping is a killer. Unless you can find one locally a 36" might be the best bang for a buck. Even the 1 meter dishes the shipping gets spendy

While I'm guessing the total price once shipping is added might be similar, you can get the WSI 9036 with lnb for 59.99 directly from Galaxy-Marketing who is also a site sponsor rather than the other guys who aren't.

$150 including a quality 1.2M dish is just not feasible...... Sorry!

We just hammered out a new killer shipping deal with a ground freight company on 1.2M dish delivery within the continental US. We will be formally announcing the new shipping rate next week along with a 1.2M dish special for SatelliteGuys!

AV I think it'd be cheaper to have horses pull the UPS trucks! Or maybe you have found the first all-electric vehicle delivery service, lol.

No kidding! But then you have to hire a clean-up crew behind that UPS entourage! Electric vehicles will never catch on..... the extension cords will get tangled in the intersections and the cars will need gigantic automatic retracting cable reels! LOL!!!

Actually we had a logistics company decide to go toe to toe with the big guys and is providing a fixed cost anywhere in the Continental US plus $15 for residential! Unbelievable! Hope they stay in business long enough to make the deliveries!

I think I'd grab a buddy, and -drive- the 400 miles up 'n visit Brian in person!
We might miss lunch, but we'd catch dinner.
Would cost more, but the dish wouldn't get dinged! ;)
...or even need packaging!

This is what I was thinking. Perhaps they should purchase the 36" to get into FTA and then upgrade later.

This is what I decided to recommend to my friends tomorrow. The total came to $100.45 including shipping to PA. Thank you everyone for your help.

Re-ask the dealers you've looked at, for a better price for shipping the three dishes at once.
Maybe even consider becoming a dealer for 'em.
I think SatelliteAV and WSI/Galaxy would treat you well.
HyperMegasat -is- a dealer for Galaxy (and maybe DMSI).

There are several deals on ebay for lower. The most tempting deals are from a Canadian seller for $69 shipped for a 33", or $90 for a 39" with lnb, but I am hesitant about ordering without knowing tax issues. Its too bad almost all the deals are from the west coast as shipping kills the deal.

39" SATELLITE FREE TV KU BAND DISH ANTENNA 36 FTA LNB - eBay (item 120562809469 end time Mar-23-11 21:54:29 PDT)

EDIT: Looks like this 39" inch dish ships from the USA for $89 with the LNB!

The dish in your Ebay links does not have any specs that I can find. Why are no specs listed???
Knowing the degrees of offset can be important when aligning an offset dish. I also like to know how much advertised gain a dish has and at what frequency the dish gain was determined.
Not to pinch hit for SatelliteAV but the 36 inch dish in his Ebay link may outperform the 39 inch dish in your Ebay link. I know the 36 inch dish that AV has is well constructed and they are proud enough of its specs to post them.
Beware of satellite dishes with no specs because the quality and performance is usually poor on them. GregH

I think you just got the attention of quite a few of us here with this statement.....

I will be waiting for this one. my DS2076 is not quite cutting it for everything I want to hit.

I've got an older model of the GeosatPro 90cm dish (the one without the side brackets) and it works very well :)
Works better than the 30"

One of my friends didn't take my advice and ordered over $2,000 worth of FTA satellite equipment this past weekend from companies he found online rather than buying from Satellite AV and Galaxy Marketing who I highly recommended.

My other two friends will be purchasing their equipment this week. Hopefully they are going to take my recommendations. I especially like the $89 3' dish and LNBF deal on EBay from Satellite AV. I might just buy one myself and write a review on it.

Unfortunately, I had them order the OpenBox S9 PVR HD receivers from HyperMegaSat, because none of our gold sponsors sell that receiver.

My other friend purchased a 6' C-band dish last night from Sadoun now on sale for $179 and only paid $37 shipping. Pittsburgh isn't too far from Sadoun in Ohio, but still I was shocked by how low the shipping was.

Satellite AV, you should be getting orders soon as well. I sent my friends links to your EBay specials.

Shipping on the 6 foot panel dishes is always very reasonable due to the fact that they come in a small package. This makes them a great bargain...

yep. Since the box is small it doesnt cost as much as a larger offset (one piece) dish.

I think it was like $40 to ship the 6 footer to Minnesota
