Interesting concept. So many other devices around of now that show the temp.

Ummm, insertion loss? Just to see temperature?

How does that display the temp via the STB?? "Return" Diseqc data, as far as I know, isn't implemented in any consumer DVB-S/S2 'box'.
And in all actuality, when it's this cold, (-17°F yesterday AM) I don't need reminders.

DR-HD STB's support it. I have a hot cake model to try it.

I see no point in it... better to have the extra port available for an LNB.

Where and how does it display the detected temperature? Personally, I don't want more things in the signal path.

EDIT: O.K. That was answered. Had eye test this morning dilated eyes not seeing too good at the moment

My local temperature is sensed at the airport, sent across the internet to who knows where, and is displayed in the upper left corner screen of my STB running E2 firmware. All for free.

I think in Russian Siberia with cold -50C degrees-sensors fail.

WOW that is cold!!

I've never seen -50C here, nor do I want to. However, according to one of the well known but unwritten laws of antennae theory, the colder and more miserable the weather is when you install or repair an antenna, the better it will work. Imagine how well their antennas work when they can install at -50!

Getting ready to test

How cold is it out there?

Yeah..How is did the test go?

:kaboom: anyone seen wally lately?

Maybe his tongue froze to the flagpole during the thermometer testing?

Maybe this is what Dish wanted to do when they talked about their weather stations.
