4K Events Discussion Thread

Looking at the Dish Guide I see that they are now designating the four 540 channels. 01 is Fox Sports 4K, 02 is FS1 4K, 03 is ESPN 4K, and 05 is B1G Network 4K. I think we can look forward to more 4K sports in our near future.

Looks like Dish has also labeled the 4 - 4K channels.
540-1 - FOX 4K
540-2 - FS1 4K
540-3 - ESPN 4K
540-5 - BIG10 4K
I mentioned that a month ago...

Comparing the Indiana Miami championship game on 540-03 (4K HDR) with the game on channel 140 (1080i).

1) The 4K broadcast is noticeably much clearer. With so much detail they may be using 4K cameras.
2) The 4K HDR picture is darker but the colors appear to be correct.
3) The 4K broadcast has no commercials and no half time report. They show a view of the stadium during commercials and half time.
4) The 4K broadcast is ~10 seconds ahead of the 1080i channel 140 broadcast.
5) Both the 4K broadcast and the 1080i broadcast are Dolby Digital audio.

Of course Indiana is dominating the game.
Once again Dish is doing a great job.

ESPN uses 4K cameras, especially for major events like the College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship, deploying various Sony 4K-capable cameras (like the HDC-4800, HDC-P50, and F5500) for different angles.
