Not in a contract now for several years. Would it put me in one if we upgrade to 4k? Which system is recommended......HR54 or HS17.....we have and use an HR44 and an HR24 now.
Thanks for all input....

I'm gonna say that Yes, it would put you in a contract.
My suggestion for your upgrade ... go with the HR54, this way you can keep the HR24.

If you go the HS17 route, you can only have clients on the account to work with the HS17.

Since the Broadcasters seem to be planning on putting their 4K content online ( watching the Dog Show on the FoxSports App on the Roku right now), I would say put your money towards getting a 4K Roku instead of getting stuck in a new contract, just use your DirecTV log in to sign to the app.

We have a TCL Roku TV.....Watched the Super Bowl that way.....it was nice but certainly not a huge improvement over HD for me. My local Hockey team is now broadcasting its games in 4k on one of the Directv 4k channels....not sure if that enough of an incentive to upgrade my equipment...still thinking....

I would recommend to 4k because otherwise you'll miss out on the ESPN broadcasts which look the best out of all the 4k sports broadcasts plus NBA broadcasts as well. And the Olympics in 4k (filmed in 8k) will look amazing as well this summer.
