55+ Upgrade from Dish Silver to Gold

I called Dish and talked to their account specialist today since my 2 year price lock was getting ready to expire. The Dish agent was very helpful. I received a $13 discount on my Top 250 programming, $5 discount on DVR service, $5 discount for autopay, $2 discount on locals for a total $25 discount.

He was aware of the 55+ upgrade offer. Since I am 67, he tried to enter the code to upgrade my account from Dish Protect Silver to Dish Protect Gold with 1 free movie. My account would not accept the upgrade code. I asked if I needed to email him a scanned copy of my Driver’s License to prove my age. He said that Dish already has that information. He feels that Dish has not yet updated all of the accounts and that is why the code would not work. He sent my info to the back office so that they can fix the account. He told me to check back next Wednesday to verify that they have applied the upgrade.
My experience with the customer account specialist was very pleasant.

Yea they got mine and the wife's in that breach..
I hadn't seen any effects from that, but then I read that when that happens, they don't sell your info right away because they know you'll find out and be on guard, so they "bank" it for a few years, then try to sell it. Not sure how true that is, but it's scary, still.

They tried opening accounts at 5 different stores on wife's SS# and 3 on mine.. Biggest problem was getting the hard inquiry's removed from our credit history..got everything locked and so far no more tries
Happened about 1yr after breach

Do you think that when accounts are updated the discount will be applied without a call to Dish?
I don’t believe that for a minute.

About 10 years ago if anyone remembers Dish used to charge $5 if you had a 222, 322, 622, 722 or 625 that was not connected to a phone line.

There was so many customers being charged for not having a phone line connected to their receiver, Dish updates their receiver pricing based on the model receiver.

They went to $7 for a 311/211, $10 for a 612, $14 for a 322/222, $17 for a 622/722 and I believe $19 or $20 for a 922.

The thing is they updated everyone’s account to reflect the new pricing for the receivers, but still continued to charge a $5 fee for no phone line.

I pointed this out to Dish on dozens accounts I was dealing with. Dish either refused to remove the fee, or told the customer they would remove it if they signed up for credit card auto pay.

That went over well with a lot of people.

But point here is that Dish will never give a discount unless you call and ask.

I don't care about the equipment or truck roll fees but Lifelock is pretty nice. My Identity got stolen in the Equifax breach. Billions of dollars get stolen from people via Identity theft every year.
I have LifeLock. The piece of mind is good. Having a freeze on your credit is even better as it makes it harder for people to find you.

Dweber, is this just for 24 months? I got about the same offer from Dish CSR.
Yes, it was for a two year contract extension. They made it clear that early termination would involve penalties. I have no plans to leave Dish so it was a good deal for me. I plan to call on Wednesday to confirm that they were able to upgrade me from Silver to Gold.

I'm in the same boat as you, hooked on Dish. That is not the 55+ offer, it is Preferred Customer offer. I have Caleb Dish CSR checking this out.

The 55+ Segment Special has been delayed until May 23rd. I called to check the status of my upgrade from Dish Silver to Dish Gold and was told that the offer starting date has been delayed until May 23rd. My account has been noted for the change. I will call back on May 23rd to verify.

I am baffled since the previous two CSR’s knew about the offer. The CSR on May 17th said that the 55+ Segment offer was delayed until May 23rd. The CSR today knew nothing of the offer.

I called the number listed on the link that you provided and the CSR knew nothing of the offer. She wanted to view the offer and asked me for the web address. On my Iphone it redirects to Dish.com but when you enter Dish.com on a web browser it redirects to my Dish.com. Can you give me the correct web address so I can share it with the CSR?

I shared the web site DISH 55 Exclusive Offer | DISH with the Dish CSR. She claimed that this offer is only for new customers. She told me to hold so she could transfer me to an account specialist. After 4 minutes the call dropped. Can Scott find out if this is only for new customers? I thought that Jay Roth announced it was for new and existing customers. After having an initial good experience on May 17th I now feel betrayed. This is why we need Dirt to solve these problems.
