5G US C-band launch

It looks like the FAA and wireless carriers have agreed on a staged roll out of 5G in C-band. Verizon is set to launch on January 19 and AT&T around the same time. Fifty airports will have a six-month C-band buffer zone while they figure out if the network will affect radio altimeters: https://www.faa.gov/newsroom/airports-5g-buffers

Now we have a network coming on the air, it'll be interesting to see just how much interference can be expected and mitigated.

I am very curious to see what effect there will be on my signal. I have shielding on 2 sides although that may not make a difference.

It has already tested near me (L.A) since 2 weeks ago for a day or 2. Signal was high and could not watch the channel. It’s not gonna be pretty when it officially kicks in.

I just did a check on several channels between 3700-3800 on 113 and 105 and no issues thus far. Will recheck next week and post results.

No worries about 5g here in the boonies, not sure we are close to 3 g lte yet,

Well, Rural isn't always safe... We have local business Internet service providers here using the 5g spectrum for years already. We utilized one ISP here a few years back that utilized the same spectrum of my Cband, and i couldn't watch anything and surf the internet at the same time. I kept there service for about a year ,and cancelled them. I found another wireless ISP i am using that runs off 900 mhz for the internet, and no more massive interference, although, i do notice i get some TP's that cause me issues even when i have high dB levels, and it comes / goes. I am near an airport, although, its a small uncontrolled airport, I'm not sure if that might be a source. But, I am curious as to what the 5g roll out will do here, as no one wants to invest in physical connections anymore. They treat the older phone copper wires here as obsolete and you can see driving down the roads here all the junction boxes open and exposed (copper pairs visible to see) to the harsh weather.. There is no Cable here (Coax) so the only way communication will progress in this area will be via wireless.

I don't think there are even signals being transmitted below 3820mhz besides some feeds.

Now the media is in a big panic over this new 5G C Band due to airlines claiming the entire industry may become backlogged. Did the FCC and FAA not collaborate and have a team of engineers test a new C Band 5G TX with a radio altimeter for terrestrial interference??

You REALLY think they did anything MORE than just whip out their calculators, to figure out how much money they were going to rake in after stealing that amount of C-band, and selling it?

There are a bunch of feeds/channels with Spanish programming between 3700-3800.

Still plenty of stuff from 3700 to 3900, 95W and 99W seem to be the only ones cleaned out. 101W still uses the whole C-Band spectrum.

I can't find the story now but I think I read that newer radio altimeters are fine and older ones aren't. If that's the case, perhaps the airline industry is seeing an opportunity to force telecom companies to pay for altimeter upgrades. That would explain everything.
