I just called the number and asked to replace my 61.5 dish with 1000.4. (I currently have Dish 500 + 61.5) They agreed, but will charge me $15. The technician will be here on Saturday. We'll see what happens...

The person on the phone was trying to assure me that I will not be able to get any new channels with my Absolute HD package, but I told him not to worry about that. :D

I just got dish last weekend and honestly am not fully up to speed on how it all works. I do notice the 61.5 channels don't look as good as the 72s so am hoping this migration means these channel will have improved PQ. Is this right? Since I have fairly new installation I shouldn't have to call or do anything correct?

I spoke to a nice person in executive resolution and explained my position regarding this "either $95 or $15 plus take the service fee every month" to get my 2-dish setup switched over to a 1000.4 eastern arc, single dish setup. I was calm and polite and explained how every other time an equipment change was needed, it was free..... until this one. And I gave examples. I've been a dish customer since before they had installers. They mailed you a box and instructions.

Anyways, the $95 fee is waived, I don't have to subscribe to the service plan, and I'm scheduled for the dish change on Saturday (tomorrow).... AND ... she did something so I wouldn't lose any programs while waiting for the work order to be fulfilled (can't miss the hockey game tonight).

All-in-all it was a very pleasant experience so far. :)

When I called Monday to move my service back to IL (1000.2) from FL (110/119/61.5), the CSR told me I was scheduled for a dish install. I had to explain to her that was triggered by my FL configuration (110/119/61.5) and not my pure WA configuration at the IL address. It took a supervisor to override and some while to get this straightened out so their system is pretty screwed up. I asked why they hadn't sent me a letter for the reinstall and she said she didn't know how they sent those out, but my account was flagged for a "free" install. We'll see if that holds true when I relocate again next fall/winter. I won't hold my breath.

Since I am a "moved" customer so I could save a crapload in sat taxes each month, and I was able to get LOS to 129, I now have 61/110/119/129.

I like my dish farm, and get all the channels!

The installer is on the roof. Replacing the 61.5 with the 1000.4. I am also trying to convince him to connect 110 from the old 500 too. As I understand, this will get me some SD locals, e.g. PBS.

Called yesterday. Install was done today :D. EA. I had 61.5 as a wing already. The work order stated that they were to leave 110/119. I had looked at what was on 110 compared to what was already on 61.5 and 72.7 as well as comments from others in my area and concluded.. zip to be gained by leaving 110/119. I have AEP/locals/Gold&Plat HD. So down to one dish. Nice.

I live in Southern Maine and have been a Dish subscriber for 10 years. I have the 250 package w/ HD and locals on 61.5, 110 and 119 using two dishes. On Saturday morning, I called Dish to ask about the dish change for Eastern Arc to get the new HD channels. After checking for 15 minutes, the CSR said they could do it on Sunday, the next day. The tech showed up on time and changed out my two dishes to a new 1000.4. Everything when smooth in 1 1/2 hours. I now get all the new HD channels. I'm a very satisfied customer.

Sounds like Dish finally has its act together on the transition to pure arc set ups. It looked like it was going to be a rough transition, but they must have sent word down to make it as painless as possible.

A word of caution. I have/had that 4 satellite but I would do recording overnight and found that on a lot of times at 4:12AM MST/MDT the recording would stop. I traced it to the 722's arbitrary choice of 61.5. Removing 61.5 stopped it happening. Others reported the same thing in their time zones, adjusted for that. It sounds like the current rash of stoppages due to uploads but those are other times. Even with 2 recorders running and my viewing it, it stopped both. So I suggest you take out the 61.5 or don't record at that time.

I just got off the phone with a CSR from the number noted at the beginning of this post. I could have had a install tomorrow but I made it for Thur. my day off between 8-12pm. Signed up for a new 24 month contract and service plan. $15 for visit and $6 for monthly fee for the service plan.Sure beats all my previous attempts with CSRs and $199 and monthly fees. Mike

If you're paying for a service call you should not have to sign a commitment extension. If you would have waited until contacted it would likely have been free with no additional commitment.

That problem was due to a software bug that has been fixed with the L627 release....

Maybe, just maybe, I'll connect the 61.5 to the DPP44 again whenever I get L627. Or maybe swing it to 72.7?
Still trying to remember to DVR*2 when leaving the EHD playback and mostly succeeding.
