is there a way to cut off tv2 from recording on the 625? i still want tv2 to be able to change channels and every thing else, except record stuff.

Not that I know of. It is recording the stream even when not in record mode (that is why you can back up if you miss something), so I don't think there is a way for the end user to disable DVR functions on any STB.
What is your reasoning for wanting to disable recording on Tuner2???

yeah, why would you want this?
anyway, you can make TV1 the default "recorder".
Hit the "menu" button, select "preferences", select "record plus", make your selection.
but tv2 can still hit the rec button, so that doesn't do what is being asked...
eaisest way would be to put a little peice of paper under the rec button in the remote
(they see me roll on, my Segway...)
