10 billion divided by 6 million is on average $1666 per developer. They won't publish more statistics like median.

If they did you'd probably find that it's a few bigger developers getting the lions share of the proceeds and most developers making far less.

So for whom is it "good money"? Apple who took their 30% off the top.

Let's not forget that many apps are free.

Last numbers I saw was about 1/3 of apps were free in iOS.

My point is to put context around the number to understand that it's not as great as it seems when you look at c the results on an average basis.

Except that there are far more "developers" than there are apps. Many people sign up as developers only to have access to the beta versions of iOS. Ten Billion dollars divided by 900 thousand apps isn't too bad of an average. If you throw out the free apps the numbers look even better.
