How do I switch between the 2 [built in] converters?
I seem to be stuck sometimes if there is a recording in process
I don't seem to get a choice besides stopping the recording & going to live mode

It sounds like you are in Dual Mode. There is a switch on the front of your receiver to allow you to switch to Single Mode.

You can do a search here to find out about Single versud Dual Mode. Also, you mean "tuner" rather than "converter."

Easy way to find out is press the Swap Button on your remote control,if it does not change to the second tuner(program) you are in Dual Mode(need to be in Single Mode to use the Swap button.Good Luck!:)
Or, simply hit "Select" and read on the upper left what Mode you are in....

A little information is needed before giving you a better answer than you've received so far.

How many TVs are hooked up to the receiver?
--If you have more than one TV hooked up, switching to single mode will affect the other TV(s) as well. Some people fight with family over TV watching.

Are you at TV1 or TV2 (is the receiver in that room)?
--If you are at TV2 it may be defaulted to be the first one to record; this can be changed through Preferences if that is what you want.
--If you are at TV1 and default record settings are still set, you may already be recording two things simultaneously and that is why you have to stop recording.

single tv
receiver in the same room
the installer did explain much of anything & left zero manuals behind
he was far more interested in his potential rating than doing a good job

I got it switched to single mode
who actually makes the equipment?
found this page on the website
The website doesn't work very well on my medium speed dsl connection

Now that you are in single mode you can use the swap button to switch between which tuner you are watching. Or just use the PiP to watch both at once

If the other tuner is not being "used", simply change the channel to view it.
