811 to 942 after 2/1/06

Trying to review all of the information on this topic but unable to get a consensus. For the time being, I have local HD ota and am not interested in the new HD packages. Can I replace my owned 811 with a used 942, keep my old HD Pak, and pay same monthly bill with addition of the $6 DVR fee? (ie will Dish activate the 942 on my present account as my only receiver?)

There should be no problem as long as you add the 942 BEFORE you remove the 811 from your account.

Yes, when you call, add the 942, when you see the programing is right on it, then you have 811 deactivated.

YOu don't need to wait.

I called, activated the 942, it started recieving the programming, and I called and deactivated the 811 within a few minutes. The 942 has been getting all the channels fine.
