Can I get up a manual recording for a show not in the guide? I want to DVR the rain-delayed nascar race. Surely there's a better way than picking 3 separate spots and saying "end recording 2 hours later"

Customer service had no idea. Anyone here found a way?

Pick the program listed in the guide during the time slot the delayed race will take place; and before you hit the yellow A button to accept the settings, adjust the recording beginning and/or ending times. I do it all the time because of overtime games etc. and even American Idol, which has a tendency to run overtime at times.

My kingdom for a way to root the box, just so I can add this feature. Yet another reason to get a standard HD box, and build a PVR with an IR blaster.

Thanks for the help.

You can create a manual recording, on any channel for any time frame.

Once you click the record button there should be an option that says "Create manual Recording" Then you can select channel, time etc.

You're kidding. I missed that. I'll have to try it when I get home.
