Have U-verse presently and am pretty happy with it but am considering adding Directv service on one tv for the HD Sports, such as YES HD and SNY HD. Can someone please answer this question...what's the cheapest level of programming I could subscribe to and receive the above channels in HD. In other words, YES and SNY are my local RSN's, if I order the family package($30 mo.) add to it HD service ($10 mo.) and sports pack ($12 mo.) would I get the two channels in HD? Or do I haev to go with the regular base package with start at like $40 per month? I realize I could call them and take my chances getting an accurate answer but figured you guys would know. Thanks!

I think Choice and HD package will get Yes-HD and SNY-HD since they are your local market sports. You dont need to add Sports Pack to get your local market sports. So I would go with Choice and HD rather than Family, Sports and HD.

thanks and you're right, in my case however I'd probably subscribe to the sports pack either way so get the other RSN,GOLTV and FSC and NBA TV too.So I guess I should have worded my question differently, I'm wondering if I go with family,HD service and sports pack would I get all the Mets/yankee games in HD or would they be in SD in that tier of channels because I know Directv has some chs. (sports)designated as HD and SD, I guess what i 'm really trying to do is save $10 a month since I'll still get alot of the other channels in Choice package through my u-verse service.

That I am not sure. I know Sports pack will add all RSN's but it blocks out of market ones when there is a major league event on. What I don't know and what your question is, does the sports pack inclusion then automatically allow the local market despite only having Family Pack. Thats a very good question. Unless someone else chimes up here, try calling Directv and asking that question. You'll probably stump the first level CSR's too.

that's true thanks!
hey brewer4 like your definition of the meaning of life!
hey,
one last question...is there anyway around the two year committment with directv if I take advantage of the free HD rec. upgrade when I sign up? I guess it's 12 months if I were to take a standard rec. right?

That is correct.
24 month if your using Advanced equipment, 12 if your using standard equipment.
