I have a sometimes ailing GEOSAT pro DVR1000ci. I'm, like many others, waiting for the new DVR 1100C.

I have an old DirecTV DVR with two-harddrives. Can I use this DVR in place of my GEOSAT DVR 1000ci?

I know, I could take it out of storage and try it - but, maybe some of you folks could tell me in a heartbeat whether or not it's a doable thing.

No, it has DirecTV tuners. You need FTA tuners which a DirecTV receiver doesn't have. Two totally different things.

The hard drives have nothing to do with the tuners.....the hard drives may be compatible but you would obviously have to reformat the new hard drive to make it work.
