Absolute HD/Dish America - not all channels as before

I had Asbolute HD/Dish America (only HD) package. Until yesterday I got many HD channels including Nat Geo, BIO, DISXD, VS. etc. Today I don't get any of these channels. Was on call with CR for half an hour, she does not know absolute hd and says that dish america does not get all these channels.

Is it just me or everyone with absolute HD have the same issue. I have to pay $50 more every month to get all these channels.

Worst thing. I registered for 1 cent cinemax deal sometime back. Even those Cinemax 5 channels are not available now.

Did you ask for a rehit? Do they channels if show in your guide as red when you change it to All Channels?

Yes, they appear red. I did watch Nat Geo and VS. yesterday. Something changed today... dont know if this is related to the launch of new channels.. strange if it is.

On a good note, I did notice earlier that I did get 3 of the 8 new HD channels, Shorts, Epix, and G4 I think it was.

The three I don't get that I really want are already on Dish in HD (BBC America HD, Fox News HD, and my local RSN) so anything else just seems like extra fluff. It's not worth the extra money to get those three channels though.

I'm with yeah on that but my British wife thinks we're missing something by not having BBC A. She's only OK with it because she knows I'm missing the other two.

Here is the update...after talking to 3 CRs.

3rd CR gave me a proper answer. he told that the hd absolute has been renamed to Dish America from Feb 1. Additionally there are two other packages Dish America Silver and Dish America Gold. I asked him to read the channels under Dish America Gold, the channel list he gave is the same as HD Absolute. So what dish did is that they renamed the HD Absolute to Dish America (not DA gold) and cut down the channels. If the rehit was done after Feb 1, probably those that have hd absolute will loose all the DA gold channels and have only DA channels. If you look at your statement, it shows as Dish America only and not Dish America Gold. He said that if I have been getting the additional channels that are part of DA gold, I should not have been getting them. btw, DA gold is $49.99 and DA is 29.99

Finally, I had to upgrade to America Top 250 + Gold HD in order to get Speed HD, Nat Geo and VS. Increased my total cost by $40.

Btw, dont try this. Yesterday, i connected my receiver to phone line and selected the dishcomm setup. I always connect my receiver to internet but never to phone line. Not sure if the dishcomm setup has rehit my channel programming and that is why i have been reset to Dish America package.

Still think that third CSR doesn't know anything. My bill still shows DishHD Absolute.

I'm an absolute sub. Still have all the channels you mentioned above and tested them for picture. Still there, right down to a shark infomercial on Nat Geo. I also did a reboot of my system last night to reflash my sling guide and the program guide for epix and shorts... the only thing I don't have from above is g4 HD. Getting the SD free preview, but HD is red at 9408 and non existent in line with the sd channel.

I figured it couldn't hurt to ask about the Absolute package. For the inconvenience of not being able to get it I was offered a $5 monthly credit for 6 months and free HBO and Showtime for 3 months without the autopay. seems good to me. I didn't press the issue. It was totally out of the blue. You have to love a CSR that gives out money and channels like candy.

I just got my bill yesterday and its still listed as HD absolute. I still get all my stations as well as the 3 new one's.

The only station I miss is BBCA. But my new high speed line lets me stream the shows I like, directly to the HTPC. So I get to watch my shows like Dr.Who, 2 -3 weeks before they show on BBCA.

One very neat trend I have noticed from the European and Russian broadcasters is the idea of live streaming their broadcast on the net. The only catch for American web surfers is that you can't even see their site unless you go thru a respective proxy server.

If Absolute was gone like you say then there would be a ton of threads about this. I just think your receiver needed a rehit and the CSR didnt understand what HD absolute was.

The day they do this to me is the day they can send the empty box for the return of the receiver.

Yep, and now he's screwed. Good luck trying to get Absolute back now that he switched to Top 250.

Absolute picked up Shorts and Epix...and I think last time we picked up Retro and Indie.

To be honest scanning through the guide seeing the HD channels that I don't have, it still isn't worth it to upgrade or should I say downgrade.

I flew stupid a few months ago & changed my pac to AT200. After a week I experienced buyers remorse. I then contacted the executive office and they restored my beloved Absolute. WHEW! I'm sure that if my record was less than perfect, it would not have happened.
