Well the speed is generally faster in the SEC. Has nothing to do with the way you mentioned "southerners" though.
And I think Jims argument relates to your conclusion of his argument. It is an even bigger example of deflection and moving the goalposts, and he isnt even SOUTHERN!!!!!!!!
