Additional HD channels in Puerto Rico

'm always impressed with what efforts people will go to.
These pictures from Bayamón, PR, go back a few years.

Hehehe. That's the setup of a friend Called Luis Badillo.(By the name of the picture), I actually aligned those dishes. :D

As Technoguy stated that was the original Dish-500 Setup, a lot money had to be spend. Now with a couple of 3.5 to 4 footers we do the trick, the newer sats help a lot.

Seems you have fading issues,Probably you need allingment, At least ESPN2 and UNIHD are ok(TP2),Your problems is with VOOM and HGHD and FOOD HD.The other good readings you have like tps 6,8,10 12,14,16 etc are Internationals Channels.CBS HD(If you asked for it)is on Tp17 so in order to get it you must alling your Dish

I have CBS-HD and the VOOM channels (sometimes during the day)!
The ESPN's, NFL-HD, HBO, Showtime, Starz, Discovery are good everytime!
The people who made the installation, came twice, realigned the dish, and they say that's the best they can do!!!
Any suggestions???

Well I see your tp of allinment(tp29)is somewhat low,For Discovery ESPN and Showtime,the feed are coming from Echo 10(Sat 110).NFLHD and StarzHD are coming from 61.5 (tp2 as well).:D
 
Dp13 your reading are too low. I installed a system(VIP-622) for a friend with a metal 5 footers and I got readings similar to yours. he lives in Santa Isabel.

With clear skies I have up to 66 on the Rainbow 1 Transponders(1-9-13) with my 6' Channel Master. Transponer 3-7 are the about 4 points below. Another thing I switch to Dish Pro, and actually on all my HD installations I use DP. For my VIP-622 I have a DPP44 because of the signal sepatator option and the unit is more stable.

So, you are saying that, because of the metal dish, I have lower tp's???
I have a 6' metal dish, dish pro lnb's and a DISHPro 34 Switch.
Could the switch be the problem???
Will the Dish Pro Plus 33 Switch be my savior?
 
You have a 6' metal Dish? I tought you had a channel master or podelin. Those two models are commercial rated Dishes with a higher gain than the metal 6'. I have 3 of those:D , the bigger the better... Basically your problem lies on the antenna type, Dish Pro won't solve your problem.

low noise LNBs ?

In another thread, I read that someone had some lower noise LNBs for use in the North Western states of the US, where the 129 satellite signal is so weak.
...And that Dish was distributing 24" dishes up there.
I believe the installers were thinking if 24 helped a little, maybe 30, 36, or 1 meter FTA dishes might help a lot.

What I'm not sure about, is if the writer in the thread was talking about real Dish-branded (probably dishPro) LNBs, or after-market low noise LNBs.
... but he said they were the same as used in Alaska to get a signal...

Just something to think about... :eureka ...and look into.

A $50 LNB (guess) is a lot cheaper than a $600 dish...

Hope you guys can spend a little more on LNBs and a lot less on big dishes!

Can anyone say if it is possible to receive Rainbow 1 transponders further south in Antigua and St. Kitts?
