Ahh iPhone 3GS Jailbroken

GeoHot the main who came up with purplera1n for the iPhone is back with Blackra1n and this Jailbreaks any iPhone in around 30 seconds on 3.1.2.

I tried it this morning and it works GREAT

Ahh it feels good to be jailbroken again. There are actually only two programs I run that require a jailbroken iPhone, backrounder so I can do stuff like read mail while listening to internet music such as Sirius XM and 3G Unrestrictor which lets me watch my Slingbox's on the 3G Network.

Still running JB 3.0.1. Only thing holding me back right now is the pain in the a#* or redownloading and reinstalling all my Cydia apps. Are there any good Cydia back up apps that work. And Scott. Is Cydia included in this new software?

What you do is first upgrade to 2.1.2
Then download blackra1n (it's only for windows at the moment.)

Once downloaded run the program click "let it rain" and 30 seconds later you are jailbroken.

Once the phone reboots you have a blackra1n icon on your phone click it and now you can install cydia, icy or rock my iPhone.

Enjoy but also understand this is jailbreak only not an unlock. Do not use this if you want to unlock to use you iPhone on another carrier such as t mobile.

I'm gonna stick with what I have for now. I don't see the advantage of upgrading to 3.1.2 as well as the potential to lose the unlocking option for ever.

Before I install it on my phone. Is this a "true" jailbreak? Will I still be able to sync with iTunes?

Yes syncing with itunes fine.

Its great to have Backrounder again.

Start Blackra1n and click remove Blackra1n.

Or to unjailbreak you restore your phone with itunes.

Yep. Did the same. Works great on 3G. It even worked on Edge but drop outs and the slowness made it nearly unwatchable.

I have 3 Mbps at home and it looks the same or maybe a lttle better on 3G as far as pq.

Had to upgrade to 3.1.2 because some of my Apps needed the latest firmware to be able to upgrade. Upgraded my iphone to 3.1.2 Ran Blackrain, and its hung up in the "running" mode. Nothing else happens.. I'm able to reboot my phone, but it doesn't show the Blackrain icon. Obviously it never finished the JB. Any ideas.

There's also the free VOIPover3G that will enable sling, you just need to edit the config file for it.

I used the Pwnage tool to jailbreak 3.1.2, it worked great. I prefer the Pwnage tool because it lets me change the boot logo easily and doesn't upgrade the baseband.

Finally got it to work last night. Had to do some reboot and home button pushing sequence I found out about on another site. It gives you the option to download Cydia, Icy, and another called Rocky. I downloaded Rocky first, and it showed all the Cydia apps I had previously downloaded. Pretty cool.

Keep getting "unknown error" when trying to load.
