I am told al jazeera america is not available for the 5.00 a month add on anymore. Would anybody know why ? That is the only reason I was wanting to come back to dish network.

I don't remember AJA ever avail ala carte. I know the Blaze was.

This was removed from an a la carte option because it was added to all American Top packages.

It was great to watch Al Jazeera America in HD on Verizon FIOS when visiting my dad in NY

I noticed it was gone, interesting to see the explanation. For a while it was in free preview a bunch (during FOX News dispute especially) and I bet it will be in the regular rotation of free previews.

Also - even though Comcast in my area doesn't offer AJA - I noticed that some of the AJA programs On Demand are unlocked to any Comcast account.
