On Tuesday, I recorded the first episodes of the new season's NCIS shows on CBS (Dish provided, not OTA). The new New York series and Origins will both do Auto Skip, but the original, now season 24 does not. What's stranger, when I do a search for NCIS, Origins and New York show the current recording and the next episode it will record, but the original show only shows the current recording and some other channel showing the very first episode of season one. It makes no sense. When I set up the timers, I was able to use search for Origins and New York, but for the original, I had to scroll ahead in the guide until last Tuesday when the show was airing. Then set the timer from there. You can see its timer type is DVR where the other two are Seek. What am I missing?
Thanks!

don't you have to wait a certain amount off days before the auto hop kicks in :what
I believe it's 24 hours. Two of the three show recorded Tuesday night (NCSI Origins and New York) already allowed auto hop. I watched Origins last night and it hopped through the commercials. If you look at my DVR listings (first picture), you see that they have the little kangaroo icon, yet NCIS does not. All recorded one right after another on the same channel.

My NCIS, Origins and Tracker recordings did not have the auto-skip. I usually don't watch them for several days after being recorded.

It depends upon who is the station owner and also the network.
That doesn't explain my situation. Three shows, same night, channel, network and station owner. What's even more strange, searching for NCIS, not its spinoffs, does not show next week's episode on channel 5 CBS even though I can see it if I scroll to next Tuesday.

My post was in answer to slow_poke_pete's post. Not everyone gets next day autohop. I don't have an answer to your specific issue except it might show up tomorrow, or not.

Sorry :) What I really don't understand is why search doesn't find it on CBS even though it's there and scheduled to record?

Really ????

I could hit the FF button easier than wait a week .... :)

Is Paramount Plus an Option ?
That makes it the Next day to view.
That's exactly what I do.
I record new episodes (so I will know when there is a new one) then I stream the shows commercial free. That's worth every penny.
The main thing I hate about streaming is there are no trailers for the next upcoming episode.

Yes, for CBS it is 7 days before you get auto skip. I learned a while back it takes 6 skips on the remote per commercial break, till you hit the middle of the show, then it takes 8 to 10 skips for that one commercial break and then back to 6 skips for the rest of the show. Its the way they do most of their commercials. Even during the Soap it is set up similar. But if you skip to far, then skip back is 20 seconds. I watched a lot of CBS shows there for years, so I think it is still the same way today. Unless they add even more commercials to an hour.

Wow,
I'm glad I was with D* then ... they made it pretty simple.
FF=30 seconds
REV = 8 seconds

There was (at the time) 3:00 worth of commercials = 6 hits FF, done.

Now days I'm seeing they are showing 4 and 5 minutes worth of commercials in some cases, Yuck.

With both CBS and Fox autohop (as we know) is not enabled for a week..But after 24 hours if you mash the FF button until the red kangaroo shows up in the bottom right you wont overshoot the program. No need to try to figure how long the break is.
Yep. We do this all the time, but we use the 30-sec skip forward button until the red kangaroo shows up. Love this feature.
