Albuquerque and New Mexico HD

I'm grandfathered for CBS-HD distants and am keeping my 61.5 dish for CBS-E. I helped the installer put in my neighbor's 622 on 2/25 and it went without a hitch. The installer was very thorough. He replaced the Dish 500 with a Dish 1000 and tested everything thoroughly. The PQ from the 622 to my neighbor's Sony Grand Wega is excellent in HD and noticibly better in SD than their old 625 (using component out - they didn't have an HDMI cable.) The signal strengths in 129 are low - around 60, and so there are ocasional dropouts on the channels coming off 129. The mount is plumb and the dish is aimed correctly. 129 is just low here and the dropouts occur perhaps once or twice per hour. The 622 itself works great.

I ended up getting a Dish 1000 and set it up for the 622 only, got high 80's on 110 / 119 and 129...(left the 921 and 811 with the Dpp44 hookup) right now the 622 is showing an error message and is locked up... good thing I have not moved my 921 out yet...

Got the 622 going... be aware guruka that you will lose one of your CBS's (reason given was the system will not allow them to input 5 Satellites... ( I went thru advance HD tech to activate) I opted for losing the East as the 148 Sat has HBO and SHO in better PQ as well as the CBS west in better PQ....

Lost 129

Well, I saw my neighbor yesterday afternoon and she said that the 622 was now unusable - showing an 'acquiring satellite' message constantly. Apparently she can no longer get a lock on 129. The installer is coming out on Saturday. Till then, she's stuck watching the 625 in the exercise room and the 622 is not usable.

As for my install, I'm starting to have my doubts about the Dish 1000's ability to get a good lock on 129 here in Espanola, NM. At my neighbor's house I saw signal strengths in the low 80's on 110 and 119, but only about 60 on 129. The installer said that wouldn't be a problem, but I had my doubts. Now my doubts are confirmed.

So here's my current plan: Leave my dish 500 as it is (current signal strengths are around 100-102 on 110 and 119) but have the installer replace the legacy LNB's with the DPP LNB's from the dish 1000. Leave my current dish 300 (which is currently aimed at 61.5 and getting a signal strength of 125) and re-aim it to 148 so I can receive KCBS(W) HD instead of WCBS (E) HD) and have the installer take the third DPP LNB from the Dish 1000 and use an extra dish 500 I have in my garage and install that dish as a new third dish and devote that dish to 129 alone and make sure it's aimed perfectly. Then put the dish 1000 (sans LNBs) in the garage. How's that sound?

Sounds pretty good, except the 3rd LNB from the Dish 1000 isn't DPP, so you won't be able to use it for a dual tuner receiver without sending it to a switch of some kind.

Since I have two RG6 lines down from the roof to my 921 (currently using legacy LNBs and sw21's) I should be okay. What switch combo will I need to use?

I'm sure there are other ways to do it, but the easiest for you (110/119/129/148) is a DPP44. That gets all satellites to all receivers.

I removed my extra Dish 500 yesterday when I put up the 1000, I could only get 55 max as a signal strength using a 2700 to aim with the Dish 500. I peaked the 1000 with the 2700 also and the best I could get with it was 61, however when I hooked my 921 to it the signals jumped into the 80's and when I replaced the 921 with the 622 it had same signal strength's as the 921. When I set the 1000 up using the Zip Code guide in the back of the Dish 1000 install book, I immediatly found 129 with low signal strengths on the 119 Lnb... I had to raise the dish degrees to get 129 on the 129 Lnb. Btw I did not hook up a phone line to the 622 and about 8pm last night a nag screen appeared that would not leave locking the 622 up and making it unusable... will hook it up today maybe if I have time. The only local HD I saw was 24 on KASA and the PQ totally blew away the PQ from the D*HDwest version. ( I hate the kasa bug being on the screen all the time though) was unable to compare Kobs version of Medium with the D* version because of the above problem...

Was told by Dish that I would not need the Dish 1000. Currently have a 2 dish setup. 1 for the Voom channels and the other for the regular Dish HD content. Would I be better off insisting on a 1000. I live in Santa Fe and get all my Albuquerque channels OTA with a Channel Master on the roof. Signals are high 80's to low 90's.

I have a 622 install, from Dish, on the 14th. So far all I have received is three empty box's, via UPS, and no 622. I'll be replacing one 811.

Getting Aquiring signal screen and its frozen on it (2 of 5)... checked signal strengths on 129 and this is what I get
Transponder 1- 75, 2-70, 3-67, 4-75, 5-74, 6-80, 7-67, 8-67, 9-78, 10-78, 11-59, 12-82, 13-0, 14-65, 15-61, 16-70, 17-65, 18-59, 19-53, 20-69, 21-63, 23-53, 24-67, 27-54, 30-58, 31-59
