So I have an Slimline HD ka/ku HD dish. Below is my setup

Satellite LMB > COAX > B-Band converter/filter > reciever (satellite in ) > TV

I am using a droid app called Sat Finder looking at satellite 119 - 110 I cannot seem to get a signal. Any tips for a DIY junkie?

Could your Slimline be the SL3 instead of the SL5 ?

You'll only see the 99, 101 and 103 if thats the case.
Not much on the other sats anyways, unless you need International channels.

Get a $12 map compass, a $10 post level and a friend to help you tune..

I have the TV hooked up in the window next to where I have the dish for testing. Still getting signal 771. Should the tuner update in real time soon as I get a signal it will tell me?

sysc, you should be trying to get a signal from 101 first, then the other satellites.

are you 110% sure the mast is plumb / level? and aiming at the correct heading?

100% sure it's level yes, heading... not so much. This satfinder app does not seem all that accurate. Is there a better way to get azimuth?

Here is the best way to get your sat settings. Just make sure the second entry area for satellites is set to 101W Directv 4S. I use the all the time and really get good results with this site. Get your best setting by only adjusting the elevation and azimuth for 101 sat. You change the skew for sats 99 and 103. You should also be able to get your setting by just entering your zip code in the receiver on the setup page.

Yeah, that's the site I have been using. What are you using to find your azimuth ?

If you mean what heading, then charper1 is right, get it from the receiver. If you mean how do you point the dish in the right direction, use a compass.

Can you post all of your signal strength numbers from all of the satellites?

My problem was I was worrying about 101 110 and 119... when I needed 99 and 103 for HD. :) All is working now, thanks for all of the help.
