Probably right after StarLink starts carrying the full Dish programming suite.

Well, you would think so, but you would be surprised how many times I've gone out to do an arc swap, and they were already on Western. One of the reasons is that technicians in recent years are so bad at their jobs that they can't pull the equipment they use on the work order or they pull the wrong equipment.Exactly - back when Dish did the transition from QPSK to 8PSK, they knew exactly how many people had which receivers and who would lose service if they made the conversion. Dish has to know how many are setup for WA vs EA and are making calculated decisions.
I think it will be a race between customer Churn and Repointing the satellite dishes. Who do you think will be quicker? Not a simple repoint, many will require relocation of the dish. Sounds like a nightmare.

There is. For my area, the .2 WA settings were 34 elevation and for the d500 kit, 38 elevation, plus a slight pull back to the leftIf I keep it, I would have to get some trees cut down. The old western arc dish at my house I think will not make over the trees now, but can check again. I think I could move it from eastern arc where it is now just a bit of distance away to go western. Trees would have to come down for relocation, but I think it would work.
I have the pointing angles from when I moved to eastern arc. Also have western arc angles. With 129 out of the picture, is there a change in angle or elevation with only 2 sats. With eastern arc, it did not change although the one sat (I think at 77) is not used.
Operational savings. Too few subs left to spread all the infrastructural costs over. Obviously prepared to write some off who can't do WA.I have no line of sight without issues. When do they plan on shutting down the eastern arch ?
The original premise (and promise) of DBS was a very small dish, and then a mad rush to locals and other factors resulted in "antenna growth," featuring among greatest hits the like of SuperDiSH.Funny how after rolling out all those satellite locations, dishes and switchgear, we're headed back to 119 only and a Dish 500 if you want locals.
There is no change in aiming of dish to receive from WA. A DiSH 500 still receives from 110 and 119. A DiSH 1000 still receives from 110 and 119 but no longer receives (nor needs) 129. If repointing from EA to WA an LNBF swap may be needed for proper alignment of 110 and 119.If I keep it, I would have to get some trees cut down. My Dish contract runs out in February. I have Cox internet which was bought out by Spectrum. I may look into Spectrum to see what options they have to replace Dish. I have no idea if they have DVR's or not.Love Dish, but if this is true, I am already planning to cancel when my contract is up. I just have zero LOS with WA.I already started pricing out Spectrum's cable service as a replacement.
It's very, very likely that they'll leave whatever locals are on EA alone, as long as EA exists, which I'm guessing will be about 6-8 years. So with the 1000.2 (I think) on eastern arc, either bring my own locals or get at Dish500 and may have to have lnb changes for WA?
I really like Dish. If they wanted to go through the internet for all channels, I would do it. The H3 interface is much better than youtube, comcast, and direct.
EA will probably be around for 6-8 more years so I wouldn't start worrying about it just yet.Love Dish, but if this is true, I am already planning to cancel when my contract is up. I just have zero LOS with WA.I already started pricing out Spectrum's cable service as a replacement.
I thought this thing was fairly imminent. If not, then why all of the repoints being assigned? Just in cases where locals are moving over? They're still going to have all the major stuff in the east for years?EA will probably be around for 6-8 more years so I wouldn't start worrying about it just yet.
I believe the 1000 designated for EA was the 1000.4. 1000.2 is for WA, the difference being the LNBF type (differing feed spacing). So with the 1000.2 (I think) on eastern arc, either bring my own locals or get at Dish500 and may have to have lnb changes for WA?

A DiSH 500 would be perfect for WA conversion (yes, back to 1999). Might need to get the newest DPPH Twin LNBF to go on it.I have from day one (many years back) installed and maintained my own DN systems. Last time was the upgrade of lnb's and move to dish 1000 EA to get my locals and added a H3. I figured that would be my last move and didn't document anything )part numbers, aiming etc. I do remember being able to use my old receiver to aim the dish (no way to aim anymore). Old receiver is gone, I am old so the mind is gone, and I still hate the thought of throwing the dice and having a dish tech that wasn't an ex-con come to my house.
At the chance of wasting you guys time, is there a tutorial of some sort to help me get back to the WA? I still have my original dish500 dish in the barn, and currently running an h3 with a wired Joey. Lnb goes to a node (or something) under the house and then separate cables to the H3 and Joey. I have CRS syndrome (can't remember sh*t), and don't know where to start. I guess, after the manual work, I would have to call Dish for them to do some switching on their end.
I would appreciate any help, but I get it if no one has the time to hold an old man's hand.
...and in that case (like usual) I won't panic. In 5 years I'll probably be forced into using Streaming, so it won't much matter, but in any event, I won't worry about a re-point. I've been on EA from 2001, both in my previous rural location & now small city (big town?). I'll have to check my LOS later.EA will probably be around for 6-8 more years so I wouldn't start worrying about it just yet.
That's a generic warning that shows up for signal loss. I would get your dish peaked out

Same thing happened the other Night with the Channels Switching to Streaming. And there was no clouds or Rain Now, the other day on our Local CBS,the Picture Pixalated like Crazy. My Daughter commented and Complained that she couldn't watch the Young and the Restless that was recordedWe get that here in southern KY. all the time. We also get the channels switching to streaming all the time when there isn't a cloud in the sky. And when it is stormy they won't even stream and I know it's not my internet because I will be online and it works perfectly.
