On Monday, the leading online retailer said students can rent tens of thousands of textbooks from its online Kindle Store, which Kindle users can access on the e-reader.

I think this would be more useful if it gave students the option to put the rental cost towards the cost to buy the text (if it turns out that it will be useful long term).

As a professor, sadly I suspect that would no impact. Students just don't want to read anything.
