I just got this invitation in my mailbox and figured I would pass it along to all you guys as well. :)

On Friday, Dec. 17, the SES Americom-16 (AMC-16) satellite is due to launch aboard an Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral, Fla., by International Launch Services.

DISH Network customers can watch the launch on Channel 101, live,

beginning at 2:20 a.m. MT (4:20 a.m. ET) on Friday, Dec. 17.

AMC-16 is a hybrid Ku-band/Ka-band satellite that will support advanced
video and broadband services for EchoStar

Oh, I thought you got a physical invitation, because it's only a 2 hour drive and I'd glady take it :)

It's a shame they didn't offer this for AMC-15, especially since that one was during the day for those of us in the U.S.

Perhaps they saw the interest we here at SatelliteGuys.US had in the possibility of watching AMC-15 launch live on Ch. 101?

It was probably because AMC-15 was launched on a Russian rocket. I think it is a little harder getting video coverage from there.

I watched the AMC-15 launch online live. It was also available for replay on their website. E* managed to get live video of the SeaLaunch mission, and AMC-15's launch WAS available on one of AMC's C band satellites in the US.

Well the launch is in the EPG, so that's very promising.

So who's going to be up at 4AM to watch it?

I don't think I'll be driving up there, to early and seems like a waste of 4 hours drvie time for a 1 minute launch...
