Ballsy statement by the senior vice president of Programming. But as I have said many times over, the more HD D* brings out, the better for everyone...including E* subs. :) Ain't competition great!?!

I rally don't care all that much what E* is doing as long as I am happy with D*, and right now, I am very happy. I would someday like to have some of the Voom channels again, but other than that, I am good for now. But I do love how both sides compute their figures. I haven't figured out yet if I would or would not want their bean counters doing my taxes. :p

Now if I could just add 2-3 more hours in a day, I would be able to watch all of my new favorite programming that is available in stunning MPEG4 HD. :D

Does someone have a link(s) to what testing service/trade sheet/evaulation company that declared E* HD DVR's the best in the industry? I'm sure some TIVO folks would take exception to this.

They did internal testing, of course. And they only compared their DVR against another one of their DVR's. It was a no-brainer.

Quality over quantity. I dont care who has the most as long as they have what I want. D* is leading that right now. I know many have a hard on for NHLHD, but I could care less.

IMHO - DirecTV has always had the better quality HD - I never considered giving up the MLB HD, or the NFL HD, or YES-HD and SNY-HD for VOOM. Now they have BOTH quantity AND quality.

I have been a Dish customer and fan for a long long time, and I got to admit, DirecTV's HD picture quality is better then Dish Networks.

I wish both companies would learn to count and only report the number of NATIONAL non PPV or Pay Channels.

Both companies seem to employ the Enron counting method.

I thought they were using the same encoders...why do you think this scott? I mean why is this the case...what is D* doing differently at this time that E* isn't?

Depends on how you count the channels, but DISH still is the HD Leader!

You sir, have lost all credibility since you posted in another thread that if there was a problem or delay with a D* sat that it was a great day for E* subscribers. Shameful! And from a gold sponsor.:no

I moved from Dish to DirecTV a month ago. As far as HD is concerned, it ain't even a contest anymore. I don't blame them for running propaganda ads though.....they gotta be nervous right around now.
