Entity selected in response to January 15, 2015 Request for Proposals: "Sports Leadership and Management Charter School (SLAM)" (According to the PDF they only published the selection of this school to receive a QE channel in December 2015 so this isn't old news.)

If I'm reading this right, this channel will be carried on "radios that receive the Sirius satellite network, online at SiriusXM.com, and via the SiriusXM Internet Radio App for smartphones and other connected devices."

I don't think they have said who will receive the Public Interest channel they were contracting for in 2015, which was going to be available on SiriusXM 2.0 radios, online, and on the SXM Apps.

By the way, some may be asking - who is this school and why in the world would they receive a "Qualified Entity" Sirius channel? Well, I did actually Google it - this charter school was co-founded by none other than Mr. 305, the man from Miami, Mr. Armando Perez, known popularly as Pitbull.

Apparently, Pitbull has no direct financial interest in the school, but there is a related "SLAM Foundation" of which Pitbull is the "celebrity ambassador". http://www.billboard.com/articles/n...lebrity-to-charter-school-slam-near-las-vegas

I couldn't find any financial filings for the SLAM Foundation but they do have a website: http://www.slamfoundation.org/ .

I am not suggesting that this violates any of the rules surrounding who may have a QE channel. But it is certainly interesting that an application associated with a current, high profile SXM personality made its way to the top of the stack.

And, at least they didn't give it to the Church of Scientology (who also applied).
