Ok, so I decided to buy an APC UPS to plug my new 622 into. Before I did that, I thought I might try the "broken" 622 one more time. I plugged it into the UPS and it came up. I also decided to rearrange my setup to give the 622 a little more breathing room. This was a lot of work. So I tested the old 622 by going to different channels, ran the DVR, etc. It stayed on with not problems......for an hour and a half. Then I decided to try an off-air HD channel and it rebooted several times before coming back to ESPN, not the off-air channel. So I figured I'm going to have to change out the 622 anyway. I did want to watch one or two shows I recorded on my old 622, so I started to play one and it rebooted.
I put the new 622 in place, registered it and waited about 30 min for it to do it's programming. After it was finished I did not get my subscription channels, so I had to call Dish. The first person I talked to was going to transfer me to 2nd level support, but I was disconnected. I called again and explained the situation. They don't want to hear that. They have a script they run through and follow it verbatim. I did see one person say in another thread that they just ask for level 2 or ask for a hit to be sent to their receiver. After about 30 minutes, she sends the hit to the receiver and everything is working now.
My 18 month commitment is over with Dish and I am going back to the dark side. I've been with them for over 3 years, with some good service, but most bad. At least I get local service if something breaks or I can take the equipment to the local office and get it replaced immediately.
