another hd setup question????

received my directv hd receiver but the new dish won't arrive till next week
can i go ahead and authorize my new receiver and use it for regular digital channels until my new dish arrives..... will it work ...

You don't have to authorize it. I did it the other day with a Hughes HTL-HD, that I bought from E-bay. While I was waiting for a access card from D I just hooked it up to my outdoor antenna and scaned for locals. I didn't have it connecetd to my dish at all. Wait untill you install the dish before trying to authorize the receiver. Why start paying them early, and to tell the truth I don't think they would do it for you. They need to make sure you getting signal on channel 100 first.
