DirecTV is a really easy target right now, and they invite it by persistently overloading their service asses with their marketing mouths.
I'm thinking D* will get their next two satellites up and surpass most everyone in all areas except price (if Verizon could ever get quality boxes, they would compete in the few areas where they wired).
If you compare now, D* is behind, and you could forgive them that for the things they do well and for what may be coming. What gets everyone in an uproar is D*'s overpromised BS marketing. What D* does in providing service is not bad, but their advertising is ridiculous and strains the limits of most state deceptive trade practices legistation.
Criticize the D* marketing dudes and leave the transmission guys alone to keep trying to live up to the overpromises
