Any review on "US Electronics Legacy" receiver?

Can anybody tell me about the "US Electronics Legacy C/KU IRD C-Band Satellite Receiver?" I hear it's an oldie but GOODIE.

I just bought a new one, sealed in the box for $35 total on eBay, I thought it would be good for the 10' dish I'm getting. Here's the specs, tell me what you think....please?

Hey McGuyver,

I bought a new one just like yours last fall.

That receiver is the same as a Drake 1524. It is a very good top of the line analog receiver. It was private labeled for US Electronics, hence the name.

Unfortunately most of the analog channels have gone and more going, so it's usefulness is limited. It will do a good job of moving a big dish, and changing polarities for you.

I think you will find that if you have a VCII module to put in it you will be able to enjoy a few analog channels for a while yet. At least long enough to get your moneys worth.

Part of the reason I liked the Drake's so much, is that to view a Ku satellite, you only need push a button on the remote to switch.

Can this be used as a dish aiming tool/meter without the VCII module?

What can I do with it either with or without a module? If I need a module for it to be useful in anyway then where can I get one?

yes the box can be used to move a big dish and to select polarity

Without a module you will just get the free analog channels. The list is not 100% accurate but most is correct

I have 3 boxes that dont have modules in and for C-Band I can get those analog channels listed but also wild feeds

Is the VCII module a legal device and if so where can I get one?
How much should I expect to spend?

the VCII board allows you to subscribe to analog C-Band programming so yes its legal

You do not need a VCII board for free analog channels. It'll work just fine without the VCII board. There's not a lot of VCII pay channels out there either, so not a lot of need for that board.
