I'll be following this thread. I have never made sushi for myself but I might give it a try after I see some posts here. I have been getting bored with my standard meal rotation so I have been trying to branch out more lately. If you guys make any be sure to put up some pictures so we can see the finished product.

First step in sushi making is geting the rice just right.

Here's my recipe:

2 cups of medium grain calrose rice.
Rince until water runs clear.
Add 2 cups of water and cook Rice in pot (I dont like using a rice cooker as it never comes out good IMO).

On the side, mix 3 tablespoons (TB) of Rice Vinegar, 2 TB of white sugar and 1 TB of salt.

Add the vinegar solution on cooling rice, stir well (I add a bit more of either vinegar, sugar or salt depending on the taste).

Cool for 30 minutes.

I personally like a mild, sweet tasting rice. Some folks add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Rice Vinegar which I feel makes it taste too sour.

Cheers, K

PS- possibly making sushi this weekend so I'll try to take some pics
