I can believe it. My 8' has occasionally lost signal on a weak channel during a really strong wind gust. It comes right back. Imagine a 12' would really be susceptible to winds.
Anyone buy the tek2000 dish?

Well, its official.. The mount is a piece of SH%^. We were having 40 mph winds, which we have every year.. My 10' footer is fine. On the tek2000 12', the mounts ripped and peeled off from the welds and bent on the pivot hole. The dish is GONE until I can rebuild it next spring. Its laying on its far west side. The mount is JUNK. I'm gonna see if i can find another used dish next summer and swap out the mounts.
Wow, sorry hear that. What type of mount are you looking for? Maybe some of us can keep an eye out for something. Do have welding skills? If not, you might want to start looking for a good fab shop while you wait.
You might have rearrange or fabricate some tabs on the ring of the new mount. Or even just fabricate the tabs to bolt on the ring. I think half the tabs on one of my buds bolt on, the other 4 are welded.
Once again, sorry to hear of your loss on the Holidays.
At least it may save others from falling into the same trap with the Tek2000.
Yes, i have a welder... Yea, i am frustrated that my 2nd dish is offline. I actually wasn't overly surprised. I just cannot believe the tremendous quality issues on this mount. I am determined not let this whole thing turn into a junk pile. Ill figure something out next summer. Oh Well..
Sorry to hear that iBoston. When I first set up my 8' from them and reviewed it I remember commenting that I thought the mount could be stronger. My 8' has held up so far but apparently the surface area of a 12' in strong winds was just too much for that design. Hopefully you can figure something out to salvage it for use in the future.

Thanks for the offer.. I will try and find something this summer locally. I am north of Wisconsin. Ill also take pictures of what bent and broke this spring. Currently, its SNOWING and tis the season NOT to work on a dish.
An update to this dish. Last summer 2016, i scored an old throw-a-way 12' dish and mount. Dish was junk, but mount was awesome. I took out the destroyed feeble tek2000 mount, and Frankenstein'd in the new mount. I then put everything back together. It worked ok for winter of 2016 but the dish performed horribly on the weaker signals.. I had some warped / bent panels from when the dish crashed and burned on the old mount. Since the new mount survived without incident through the Winter, I thought id see if i could get 2 replacement panels from Tek2000.
I ordered the new panels from Tek2000. It took 3 months to get, and i got them yesterday. I am VERY HAPPY to report the panels came in pretty much perfect condition. I spent all day taking down the old panels, and putting up the new panels. I am happy to report that the dish is in top notch condition once again and i got a wonderful 3db increase in signal replacing the warped panels with new ones.
I can finally say for the first time, i am HAPPY with my 12' dish!

Yea, i was ecstatic. I believe it was a two prong problem. Less signal from the damaged panels, and i think maybe some adjacent signal bleed from neighboring satellite on certain transponders, also from the damaged panels. Needless to say, you never know what is gonna shake out until you get the thing rebuilt. I will have a smile on my face for days because of this successful resurrection.
Just be careful you now don't fall into the: "Humm, maybe I can tweak some more, and even get just a LITTLE bit better signal levels!" syndrome.

That's funny, because i thought maybe i should climb up and re-peak the lnbf on its mount being it was peaked with the damaged panels, and i thought maybe that could use an adjustment. But, then again, sometimes i've had intentions of peaking and 2 hours later got worse levels then when i started..
I'm finding out already with mine that 'if it ain't broke....don't fix it'. At least I was smart enough to record all the levels on the digital inclinometer that way if I walked myself out of adjustment I could quickly return it to what I started with.
Here is a picture of the original Tek2000 mount top plate that was on the pole cap that got sheered off by the wind force.. The entire load of the dish on that dinky thing! Look how thin the metal is! They have supposedly beefed it up, as i bought this in 2015. Either way , I am happy to not have a tek2000 mount holding this 12' anymore...
