Steve Jobs comes out and first thing he points out The Woz sitting in the audience.

Steve shows us the new Apple Store and shows us the Paris store. Showing the second store in China. Now showing a new store in Londo. Apple now has 300 retail stores in 10 countries.

Apple stores get over 1 million people in its stores a day.

50% of the people buying Mac's are buying their first macs.

Steve moves on and talks about iOS.

Over 120 million iOS devices have shipped since the iPhone launched. 230,000 new activations per day.

6.5 Billion download from the app store. 200 apps downloaded every second. 250,00 apps in the store. 25,000 of them are iPad apps.

Today they are introducing iOS 4.1, proximity sensor bugs, bluetooth bugs, iPhone 3G speed bugs... all fixed.

Added HDR photos, HD video uploads over WIFI, TV show Rentals, and Game Center is being introduced.

HDR photos (High Dynamic Range photos) takes 3 photos in rapid exposure, one regular exposure one over exposed and one under exposed then combines them together for the best photo. (cool!)

He goes on to Game Center which allows multiplayer games. You can challange friends or Automatch with others. (Like XBOX Live for the iPhone.)

Steve invites Mike Capps of Epic Games to reveal a new game coming later this year. Game is codenamed Project Sword. Amazing graphics all in realtime. The video quality is just as good as PS3 or XBOX.

iOS will be out next week for the iPhone and the iPod touch.

Steve gives us a Sneak Peek at iOS 4.2 which will be out later this year. Its all about iPad. Wireless printing being added and something called AirPlay which they will talk about later.

Steve is showing us how to print from iOS 4.2 and the iPad.

Now he moves onto AirPlay which was AirTunes, but instead of just streaming audio, you can stream Audio video and photos.

On to the DEMO.

Hes showing us Multitasking on the iPad, hes got Pandora playing and is reading mail and surfing the web. (Not really impressive if you have iOS now on your iPhone.) Now hes showing making folders...

4.2 will be released in November, free update of course.

Steve closes the iOS talk by giving us the run through again...

Now on to the main event... the new iPods.

275 million iPods have been sold.

Every year they try to make their ipods. All new designs for all models of iPods. The biggest changes to the iPod line ever.

Starts with the iPod shuffle. Bringing Buttons back and still features voice control as well and its REALLY small. For only $49!

Now onto the iPod NANO. They have gotten rid of the clickwheel have a multitouch screen. Its 46% smaller and 42% lighter and has a clip and volume buttons, FM Radio Nike+ and works in 29 languages. 24 hour battery.

The new iPod NANO $149 8GB $179 16GB

Now on to the iPod Touch. It is the most popular iPod Touch and is now the #1 portable game player in the world. It our sells Sony and Nintendo combined.

The new iPod Touch adds the amazing Retna Display. The Apple A4 Chip, the 3AXIS Gyro, iOS 4.1 with game center and Facetime with front camera, and a rear camera as well with HD video recorded.

Battery life of 40 hours of music playback.

8GB $229
32 GB $299 and 64 GB $399

All the new iPods will be available next week.

I liked it when Jobs said the iTouch is a iPhone without the phone and it can be a phone without a contract. Funny and true.

Now hes showing some new iPod ads.

Now hes moving on to iTunes.

11.7 billion songs have been downloaded from iTunes.

450 million TV episodes have been download

Over 100 million moves

Over 35 million books.

160 million accounts with credit cards and one click shopping.

He announces iTunes 10.. They introduce the new logo for iTunes 10.

Whats new in itunes 10, its easier to use.

Itunes 10 makes it easier to discover music and artists... its something called PING, its like Facebook and Twitter meat itunes. Its a social network all about music, you can follow your favorite artists and friends and see what music they are talking about and listening to. You also get a custom Top 10 list based on the people your following.

Ping is for Social Music Discovery, you can follow and be followed.

Steve goes over the privacy so you can setup a circle of friends.

Steve now gives a live Demo if PING.

Demo is over...

Ping is available on your iPhone and Ipod Touch.

iTunes 10 is available TODAY.

And we have One More THing... Actually One More HOBBY... (Apple TV)

Steve says people want Hollywood movies and TV shows and they want everything in HD.

THey want to pay lower prices for content.

They dont want a computer on their TV.

They dont want to manage storage.

they dont want to sync to a computer.

And they want it silent cool and small.

So Apple has made something new for them. He shows the new Apple TV which is 75% smaller then the regular AppleTV.

On the back of the box is Power, HDMI, Optial Audio and Ethernet and it has built in WIFI (Wireless N)

ALL HD, All rentals, no purchases. No storage management.

All video is streaming no syncing.

It does photo slideshows.

And its silent cool and tiny.

$4.99 for First Run HD Movie Rentals. Available the day and date they come out on DVD.
$99 to rent HD TV Shows (it was $2.99) all shows are commercial free.

ABC and FOX are the first to hop on board.

Its streams from NETFLIX on your AppleTV, you can watch from YouTUBE, photos from Flickr and photos and video from MobileME.

Steve shows the new UI.

My video has started blinking like crazy even after a few refreshes)

Demo being shown of Ironman.

Now hes showing renting TV shows and demos showing Glee.

On the internet he shows netflix...

Then he shows us a Slideshow with pictures from his computer.

Now he explains what Airplay is. He streams video from his iPad to his AppleTV.

(Too bad he does not support DLNA.)

Cost for AppleTV is now just $99. Available for pre order today will be available in about 4 weeks.

Now steve reviews everything we talked about today.

If that $99 Apple TV can play (on top of TV show, Netflix, etc.) all the formats WD TV, Patriot, etc. can play off USB storage - that would be tempting...

Diogen.

Bob in case you haven't noticed I have been covering the Apple press event for the last hour and a half.

Just found out from an email I got from a friend who works there and passed it along.

Just wanted to say thanks, Scott for covering this. Been busy trying to get a couple DVD orders done and didn't want to stop to watch it. Your recap was just what I could use. :)

The new iPod NANO $149 8GB $179 16GB

Now on to the iPod Touch. It is the most popular iPod Touch and is now the #1 portable game player in the world. It our sells Sony and Nintendo combined.
More great Steve Jobs logic.. (in millions)

32 iPods > 65 DS and PSP sales

Keep in mind the game device sales are just for America. The DS has sold 132 million units worldwide alone, and the PSP has 60 million.

I'll be snagging a new Apple TV once they're available. Didn't care for the current one.
With all Macs in my house, it's a no brainer for me at $99. Will replace my airport express w/ itunes.
