The apartment community I am moving to is pre-wired for directv and provides a basic package. They say I can become a directv customer and add a reciever if I want more channels/services etc. Will I get a better rate if I do this because my community is already pre-wired?

Also is it possible for HD channels to be included in basic packages?

You need to find out who administers the apartment community system and what system is being used.

Also, the dish being used may not be one that supports HD>

Too many variables here for an accurate answer. I've moved people into DTV pre-wired units that didn't even work let alone pick up HD. I don't believe you will get a better rate other than the new customer discounts they are always offering.

Would they give you the SAME New sub discounts if your in a D* apt complex ?

Is each apt individual or do they offer a set package from the Apt owner ?
