Hi guys. I recently bought a Sony 46" (KDF-46E2000), and yesterday, a Toshiba SD-5000 upconverting DVD player. With my HDMI cable, every DVD looks amazing. Well, almost every DVD.

I love Friends. BUT. Every 4:3 DVD I put into the player, the TV or DVD player automatically stretches it, giving me stretch-o-vision. No matter what I do, as long as the DVD player is in 720 or 1080 mode, I can't get my Friends DVDs to show up with the correct aspect ratio. If I switch it to 480p, I can set the TV to 'normal' and its fine.

Am I doing something wrong? My old progressive scan players worked fine. Is the new Toshiba's HDMI too new for the Sony HDMI? Any ideas? Thanks

On the SD-5000, go into the picture menu and look for Progressive 4:3 Output. If that doesn't work, change the TV Shape setting in that same menu.
